With the T20 World Cup fever starting here in the West Indies and USA, we still have another item.

Australia's cricketers were training behind closed doors at the Queen's Park Oval, with heavy security presence.

Communications manager for the team Cole Hitchcock says the Aussies are keen on playing their two warm-up games at the Oval, with the first starting tomorrow at 7pm against Namibia.

00:00The car park at the Queen's Park Oval was quite empty compared to what it's
00:03known to be with security vehicles present. That's because the Australian
00:08cricketers were having a net session behind closed doors with this being the
00:12mode of transport. With strict measures in place filming of the training
00:16sessions were not allowed. The good thing though was the fact that Australia's
00:20communications manager Cole Hitchcock was willing to spend some time with TV6.
00:24What's the energy like in the Australian camp? Yeah high at the moment we've had a
00:27rest day yesterday. A couple of the guys came out and had a slight warm run
00:32around yesterday afternoon but today we're in the full training back ready
00:36for tomorrow's practice match. And with regards to the players and so on in
00:40terms of fitness how is everybody feeling seeing that they are playing in
00:43the Caribbean which is of course different from other conditions around
00:47the world. Yeah everyone's fine Mitch Marsh is fully recovered from a hamstring
00:51problem that had ruled him out of the IPL but otherwise everyone's fully fit
00:54and ready to play. We've still got five to come in after the IPL final yesterday
00:58so they'll come in over the next few days. The Aussies played two warm-up
01:02matches at the Queens Park Oval. It's something they welcome before going into
01:05their World Cup opener against Oman on June 5th. Oh absolutely yeah I think
01:09guys particularly the guys who haven't been playing would be looking forward to
01:12a run tomorrow night against Namibia and then again against the West Indies on
01:16Thursday. A lot of these guys who are here haven't played for some time. There's
01:20quite a few in the IPL but they've been home for a couple of weeks so yeah very
01:24much looking forward to getting out there. While Hitchcock believes that the
01:28Aussies can shine at the T20 World Cup he knows how unpredictable the abridged
01:32version of the game can be. Yeah no we're pretty confident I mean it's a wide open
01:36tournament there's probably five or six teams who can win here you need a touch
01:39of luck in T20 tournaments you need things to go your way and obviously you
01:44need to win the games you're supposed to win so you know it'll be a challenge but
01:48getting to the super eights and taking it from there. Australia won their first
01:52T20 World Cup title in 2021 beating New Zealand by eight wickets in the UAE.
