00:00Let's move on to the NFC here because there is a team at the bottom that is showing a
00:07very lovely plus number and I want to hear your thoughts, but let's start at the top
00:10first.
00:11Yes.
00:12Well, again, if you want to light your money on fire potentially for the 49ers to win the
00:17Super Bowl this year, go ahead.
00:19Since the year 2000, only one team has made it back from losing a Super Bowl into the
00:25Super Bowl and won a Super Bowl.
00:26That team, the Patriots, that quarterback, Tom Brady.
00:30So you could crumple that up and throw it out the window because there's nobody mentally
00:34tougher than Tom Brady.
00:35I'm sorry.
00:36It just isn't.
00:37He sat there for three hours in that roast and he took a lot of shots.
00:39Okay.
00:40I don't see Brock Purdy doing a roast anytime soon.
00:42I'm kidding.
00:43But look, the 49ers are still a great football team.
00:46However, the data just bears it out.
00:49Look at the Eagles a couple of years ago.
00:51Look at, you know, look at the Rams a couple of years ago.
00:53Look at the teams that were great that everybody thought was going to get there again and be
00:56there forever.
00:57And they weren't.
00:59Sometimes the air goes out of the balloon and it's tough to pump it back up.
01:02And Kyle Shanahan continues to be the guy that thinks he's too cool for school.
01:06The guy is the smartest guy in the room.
01:07You had the lead, you run the football.
01:10And sometimes it's the hard lessons and sometimes people learn and sometimes people don't.
01:13And I've seen time and time again, Kyle Shanahan get these situations in these big games and
01:17coach himself out of it, trying to be too cool for school.
01:22And at plus 250, I'm not interested.
01:25I'm just not interested in it.
01:27The Detroit Lions, though, I'm interested in a plus 600.
01:29Now, I want to see if Dan Campbell learns from his mishap, because guess what?
01:34The Green Bay Packers should have beaten the San Francisco 49ers last year.
01:39The Detroit Lions should have beaten the 49ers last year.
01:44The 49ers sneaked by.
01:45Let's not forget in both those games, those games were basically out of their reach and
01:50good things happen to them with bad decision making.
01:52And next thing you know, the 49ers are in the Super Bowl.
01:55So let's not anoint the 49ers like they're this perfect team.
01:57And those games, by the way, were at home in San Francisco.
02:00Okay.
02:01Now, Dan Campbell better learn from his mistake.
02:03The stuff you can do in the regular season, you can't do in the postseason.
02:06But I think if you watch the slow burn progress, Dan Campbell's a tough guy.
02:11Sometimes I think Dan Campbell's one of these guys that might have to learn the hard way.
02:13And I think he learned the hard way.
02:15They're in a great spot with one of the few places in the NFL that I think if you get
02:19home playoff games is an advantage.
02:21That place is going to be wild.
02:23Look how wild they were for that first playoff game.
02:25The whole city stopped.
02:27That is going to be a tough environment if they somehow can get the one seed.
02:30And I think they possibly can with the way that division looks this year.
02:34Packers going to be good, but the rest of that division, you know, again, rookie quarterback
02:37in Chicago, you know, turnover in Minnesota.
02:41There's opportunity.
02:42The Cowboys, the Cowboys at the end of the day, the Eagles at plus 700 are really interesting
02:46this year.
02:47If you see a bounce back problems with the coordinators last year, but I do think still
02:52that young defense over time is going to figure it out.
02:54But there was a lot of turnover, a lot of youth on that defense.
02:56Yeah, they're all from Georgia, but they're all under 25 years old.
02:59The Atlanta Falcons at plus 1100 are fun.
03:02And the Packers at plus 850 were a great story last year, but they are also a very young
03:06team.
03:07Now you have to play with expectations.
03:09Let's see how that impacts them.
03:10To me, it's the Eagles and the Lions at plus 600 plus 700 I'm most intrigued by that I
03:15think are the most complete two teams in the NFC.
03:19Well, then if that is the Super Bowl, let's go and look at the Super Bowl.
03:24What is it 59 this year?
03:25A thousand outright betting for the winner straight away.
03:28Who's it going to be?
03:29And let's look at the numbers.
03:30Well, you know where I'm not going to the favorites of the 49ers.
03:33No, thank you.
03:34I'm good.
03:35I love the Chiefs at plus 600.
03:37I think that's a great number.
03:38The Bengals again, plus 1300 same as the Detroit Lions.
03:43Then you've got the Eagles at plus 1400.
03:46The Packers, it's not that I think they can't get there and win.
03:49They can.
03:50I just think there's still a young team that still has some learning curve.
03:53And I think the young teams you saw last year that really popped off in the NFC and the
03:57AFC, right?
03:58The Houston Texans and the Green Bay Packers, two teams that were told they shouldn't be
04:01there.
04:02And then they were, and that's great.
04:04But how often have we seen the next year?
04:06All of a sudden there's pressure.
04:07There's expectations.
04:08It's really easy to be the chaser, right?
04:10It's tough to be the champ at the mountain and you know what that's like.
04:14You were in that business for a long time, right?
04:16You know, sometimes it's good to chase, especially when you're told you can't do it.
04:20There's a hunger.
04:21There's a passion there.
04:22That's not always there.
04:23I think with some other teams that kind of get a little complacent, but when you put
04:27expectations on a team, they don't always react well.
04:30The Lions were in this place last year, ironically, where they had no expectations two years ago,
04:35outperformed and then last year had a few days and they lived up to them.
04:39I think that bodes very well for the Lions this year too.
04:42And again, winning the Superbowl is different.
04:43I still think the Chiefs, but getting there in the NFC, Lions might be the team to beat
04:49at the end of the day from the NFC.
