00:00 A complaint by an MACC officer led to the investigation into Wan Saiful Wan Jan and

00:07 charges being brought against the Tasek Gulugur MP.

00:11 MACC officer Kushaini Adil Ahmad Aribin told the Sessions Court that a principal investigation

00:17 into the Jana Wibawa programme was launched in late 2022 based on information given by

00:23 a source.

00:25 After receiving more information in January 2023, she filed an official complaint after

00:30 being directed by her superior, as MACC did not want to reveal the source's identity.

00:37 Kushaini, the first witness to take the stand in Wan Saiful's trial, said the Barsatu men

00:42 accepted bribes to assist a company to secure a highway construction project.

00:47 However, she said she was not privy to the principal investigation.

00:53 When cross-examined by lawyer Amir Hamza Arshad, Kushaini said she did not know what was meant

00:59 by the accused assisting the company in securing the project.

01:04 The MACC officer denied that her report against Wan Saiful was false or fictitious, saying

01:09 she made the written complaint after discussing it with her superior.
