00:00The Dewan Rakyat's Rights and Privileges Committee found that Bersatu MP Wan Saiful
00:06Wan Jan did not mislead the Dewan Rakyat in claiming that certain parties offered to drop
00:11his court charges if he supported the unity government.
00:15The panel said it found that Wan Saiful had met with parties who offered parliamentary
00:19allocations, funds for his late wife's medical expenses, and help in getting his court case
00:24dropped.
00:27The committee also said that Tasik Gelugor MP's claim did not affect the interests of
00:32parties involved in his ongoing trial.
00:35However, they urged authorities to probe Wan Saiful's claims and recommended that the MP
00:41file a report with the police, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, and Malaysian Communications and
00:46Multimedia Commission.
00:48The committee also advised Wan Saiful against commenting on the matter to avoid affecting
00:52the interests of parties involved in Wan Saiful's trial where he is facing money laundering
00:57and corruption charges related to the Janawi Bawa scheme.
01:01Wan Saiful was referred to the Dewan Rakyat's Rights and Privileges Committee over his claim
01:06that court charges brought against him could be dropped if he declared support for Prime
01:10Minister Anwar Ibrahim's government.
01:14He had revealed in the Dewan Rakyat the identities of two MPs whom he claimed had attempted to
01:19influence him into supporting Anwar.
