00:10 traffic exercises. This as a two licensing officers from Tobago have been
00:16 fully trained for the road. This was confirmed by Transport Commissioner
00:21 Clive Clark during an interview with TV6 News on Monday. Transport Commissioner
00:27 Clive Clark as he spoke with TV6 News along the Old Milford Road on Monday
00:33 morning. Mr. Clark said he has been concerned with the ongoing operations in
00:38 Tobago by licensing officers and action had to be taken. So we have approached
00:44 the authorities, we have approached the THA, we have approached the permanent
00:48 secretaries, the DPA and we now have two motor vehicle officers
00:54 assigned to Tobago and I'm very much happy for that. What that means is that
00:58 you will see a more presence of licensing officers in Tobago on a
01:04 day-to-day operation. In addition to that, licensing officers from Trinidad will
01:09 continue to support those two officers on a frequent basis. So you will see
01:15 within a period of times on a regular basis additional officers coming to work
01:20 with these officers. The question is why so? Why do we need officers on the ground?
01:23 We continue to experience problems where we are seeing persons with a high level
01:29 of defective vehicles, we are seeing persons who are driving with never been
01:33 issued a driver's permit, we can continue to see people driving with
01:37 vehicles with unsecured load, vehicles not being inspected. There's so much and
01:41 I'm saying though these things transfer into life. Assistant Commissioner of
01:46 Police Tobago Collis Hazel was also on hand during Monday's operations in
01:51 Tobago. ACP Hazel said the introduction of these two motor vehicle officers in
01:58 Tobago are as well for law enforcement in Tobago. Any amount of human resource
02:05 being added to the security apparatus in Tobago is a welcoming initiative for me
02:11 and for the entire island. I am very happy that of course we have much more
02:19 personnel to service us in terms of providing that checks to the motor
02:24 vehicle and road traffic in terms of Tobago enforcement, law enforcement. ACP
02:32 Hazel said the security of Trinidad and Tobago remains paramount especially with
02:38 the increase in gun crimes in the country. We are quite aware that firearms
02:45 which is challenging to us is traveling in vehicles so when I want to make it
02:50 abundantly clear when people see the licensing officers and the police
02:55 officers and other members of the Defense Force working in a multi-prong
03:00 operation one needs to understand that it is not only just about giving people
03:05 a ticket but offenses are being conducted daily on the nation's road with
03:13 the use of firearms and ammunition which are traveling in motor vehicles.
