00:00 What does it mean to be here today at the 55th annual NAACP?
00:04 Well, it means, you know, for our company, Bass Advance Productions,
00:08 and our first foray out with Heist '88 and our Rider One award.
00:14 So it means everything. It means, as we come on the heels of the strike we just came off of
00:20 and the pandemic we just came out of, and the fact that we're here without masks on
00:25 and that we're here, I'm standing next to Idris and his wife, and I'm just excited.
00:30 I'm excited to see everyone here and see all the black excellence
00:35 and everyone dressed wonderfully without masks. It's very exciting.
00:39 And now you mentioned the strike that we just came up out of.
00:42 Do you have any concerns about AI and how it is literally kind of taking over the creative space?
00:49 Yes, I do have concerns about it, and we all should have concerns about it
00:53 because we don't really know where it's going to go.
00:56 We just have to be negotiating so that when it does grow, we can grow with it.
01:01 That's the only thing we can do.
01:03 Just like no one could have anticipated that our phones are running the world now.
01:09 So, and everyone is focused through, and everything is focused through our phones.
01:13 So that's the same thing with AI.
01:15 We've got to be respectful, and nobody's going to make all the money off of it.
01:20 We all have, there's enough to share. So as long as we have that attitude, we'll be fine.
01:26 And you are not only an actor and a businessman, but you are also a husband,
01:33 and you are very supportive of Miss Angela.
01:36 So how exactly do you balance showing up for her the way that you do,
01:39 the way that we love that you do, and also be a leading man in your own life?
01:44 I'm her biggest fan. So I'm as much of a fan as you are of her.
01:51 I am the same. She's, as far as I'm concerned, one of the greatest actresses of our generation.
01:57 So if not the greatest. So I'm, there's no artifice there.
02:02 That's just, she's the bomb dot com.
02:06 And I'm continually surprised by how absolutely amazing she is.
02:12 So I film it so she can see it.
02:15 Because all these people filming around her, she never sees that.
02:20 So she can hear her speeches and see her speeches.
02:25 I love that. And then the honorees tonight.
02:28 So we have New Edition, we have Frankie Beverly, and Usher.
02:32 What does it mean for them to be honored today?
02:34 Oh, well, you know, they've paid their dues and paved the way.
02:39 So it's nice to, we have to give people their flowers while they're here to receive them.
02:44 So that's what we're doing. I'm excited.
