00:00Congratulations, you are joining this cast in a mystery role.
00:04Yes.
00:05What can you tease about this character, if at all?
00:07Oh, nothing. I can tease absolutely nothing.
00:10I'll just say it's a really fun reveal for fans when you do see who I'm playing.
00:15We've been very tight-lipped about this since the day I got cast,
00:21and we're not going to spoil it now, but it's good.
00:25It's good, I promise you. It's going to be worth the wait.
00:27Is there anything that you can tell us about, did James approach you?
00:31Was it a very grueling process?
00:33I've known James for over 20 years.
00:35We worked together on a movie he produced called Brightburn,
00:38which was sort of the Superman, if Superman were a villain, horror version of that story.
00:44And that's where I met Jen and Steve Agee.
00:48And I worked with Freddie about 10 years ago on a movie called 13 Hours.
00:53So coming onto set was very familiar.
00:55You know, there's a lot of people I already knew, and I was really big fans of the first season.
00:59And, yeah, James called me and asked me, you know, if I would be up for this
01:03and sort of gave me the rundown of what it would entail.
01:07And I realized I was going to have to get back in the gym and work out, and that was a little daunting, but I did it.
01:14And, yeah, you know, I had a great time.
01:20It's tough. It's tough telling everybody about the show without telling anybody about what you do, but it's a really fun reveal.
01:27Well, how much intel did James give you ahead of time about this character and maybe the character's arc?
01:33Versus, like, how much was it a mystery for you as well to a certain degree?
01:37Oh, I mean, he sent me all the scripts, so I knew what I was getting into from the jump, and we did have a conversation about it.
01:47You know, when you're playing a character, you've got to fill in the backstory, all the stuff that's not on the page.
01:52So we would have those conversations, and we would make sure that, you know, I was on the same page.
01:57We got to know what this guy was and what this world was, and, yeah, that was our jumping-off point.
02:04And then we'd get on set, and we'd mix it up. Yeah.
02:08How do you think this season is going to set things up for James' overall vision for the future of the DCU?
02:14Perfectly. I can't give it away. I can't give it any way.
02:18Hey, I'm just saying, it's all a big puzzle piece that he's putting together, and it will all reveal itself as the season goes on,
02:27and then everyone will want to think of a better understanding of what his arc and plan is for this universe.
02:32It's a great thing, though.
02:34Well, I love how much chemistry you guys all have as a cast.
02:37Like, I feel like the energy is so great, especially John, just here in the suit, really just, like, embracing this character.
02:43It takes that thing off. I think he lives in it now.
02:45I mean, if I could wear a suit like that, I'd live in it. Why not?
02:50How would you describe the chemistry joining this cast and having someone like John as a scene partner?
02:56John is, I mean, I say he's better than advertised.
03:00He is such a gentleman, such a pro, such a great scene partner, so giving and willing to be vulnerable and improv and, you know,
03:11and be funny and roll with everything. I mean, I wish all my scene partners were John Cena, honestly.
03:17He's really terrific, and everybody else in the cast that I got to interact with and work with, they were great.
03:26It was a great run. I mean, when, you know, John, James always talks about that, you know,
03:31the third step of writing a script is getting on set and filming it, and we improv lines.
03:35He improvs with us. He yells out ad-libs. You know, he's on a microphone with a speaker,
03:40and so you just, as a company, you've got to be willing to roll with that,
03:43but he also creates a safety net to allow you to fail, because if it doesn't work, we just don't use it, you know?
03:48So if you go for it, you can sometimes find gold, and, you know, I just love that process of working,
03:53and James is, you know, the best at it.
03:56Sure. Finally, I know John said that he would love to see a Peacemaker, a Batman crossover.
04:01What crossover would you love to see?
04:04Oh, I mean, I would love to see, God, I mean, I would love to, I can't wait to see the Green Lantern series.
04:12I think that's going to be incredible, and a completely different style and tone.
04:17It would be fun to see those worlds, you know, collide.
04:21So that might be kind of interesting. I don't know how that would happen, but who knows?
04:25We'll make it happen. With James Gunn's mind, anything can happen.
04:27Anything is possible in the DCU.
