Two Coastal Support officers of the Police Service were injured today when their boat's engine exploded.
Police said that around 10.30 a.m. the two officers, PCs Gonzales and Tirbanie were aboard "marine vehicle CP-002," in the Gulf of Paria after refuelling the small vessel.

00:00 According to reports, as the two police officers were approaching the peak facility located near power boats in Chagaramas,
00:06 the boat's outboard engine exploded.
00:09 Police said that one of the men was thrown off the vessel due to the force of the explosion while the other man jumped out.
00:16 A witness who spoke with TV6 News said,
00:20 "I heard the explosion. I did not see it, but then I saw the small boat on fire coming towards the jetty near power boats.
00:29 It was unmanned and smoke was coming from it."
00:32 He said that it bumped into a few small vessels that had been moored and then it became entangled with the ropes used to moor the other vessels.
00:40 It was only then it stopped.
00:42 People on board other vessels moored nearby used their fire extinguishers and brought the fire under control.
00:49 In the meantime, the two officers had been picked up by a pilot boat.
00:55 They were brought on board and made to lie on their backs on the deck until they were transferred to a Coast Guard vessel,
01:02 which then took them to Coast Guard headquarters at Stouffvilles Bay.
01:06 From there, the two officers were taken by ambulance to the St. James Hospital.
01:12 PC Terbani is reported to have sustained burn injuries to his face, left and right arm and back,
