00:00 Public Relations Officer of the Route 2 Maxi Taxi Drivers Association, Jason Macmillan, says
00:06 they just want to be heard, but if they continue to be ignored, action may follow.
00:12 Membership right now, they're boiling over. I will not be held accountable if they decide to
00:18 down tools or go slow or whatever protest action they choose to take. But we are pleading with the
00:24 Ministry because at the end of the day, the public will just feel the hurt and any kind of industrial
00:30 action is taken. And seeing that we do a service to the public, we don't want to down tools,
00:36 we don't want to down tools, but if we have to, we will. He holds the view that the situation is
00:42 unfair to drivers. Our vehicles are maintained by us, is secured by us, you understand? And we do
00:50 a human service to this country. And the disrespect we are dealt with is unacceptable. And it's time
00:58 for this to change. We are asking for a policy to be put in place to deal with PBR especially.
01:04 Former Vice President and now financial member of the association, Brenton Knights, attempted
01:10 to justify what they're demanding. To all the world, where pharmaceutical license permits are moving
01:17 away from a certain notion of where you say that this is the property of the state and that is it.
01:21 You see, it has the data, it has the documentation showing that to all the world. Where, because you
01:28 invest a certain amount of time and your resources into this business to grow this business, you have
01:35 a certain level of rights to it. And the law of succession do apply to you to be able to pass it on
01:43 to your next of kin in the case of your debt. TV6 contacted Works and Transport Minister,
01:49 Rohan Sinanan, but he was unable to respond at the time. Nicole M. Romany, TV6 News.
