Snow to swipe Northeast

A fast-moving storm will deliver accumulating snow to part of the Northeast during the first part of the week, including the chance for snow in cities along the Interstate 95 corridor.

00:00 It is cold. There's really no other

00:02 better way to put it.

00:04 It is very cold outside in the Northeast,

00:06 meaning that first you have to bundle up.

00:09 If you do have to head out and second,

00:12 it's cold enough to support some

00:13 snow moving into the I-95 corridor,

00:15 which a lot of people are excited about.

00:18 We haven't seen any big snow,

00:20 at least an inch or more,

00:21 and almost two years in a few of these cities.

00:24 Let's take a look at where temperatures go,

00:27 'cause you'll see kind of a contrast

00:29 between Pittsburgh, Detroit,

00:30 and even Lexington are going to see

00:32 a slight uptick in the mercury as we

00:34 head into the middle half of the week.

00:37 Not a lot.

00:37 It's not going to be warm by any means,

00:40 but temperature still going to be

00:42 rising a few degrees from Tuesday

00:43 into Wednesday with a high of 19

00:45 on Tuesday in Pittsburgh.

00:46 21 on Wednesday.

00:47 Meanwhile,

00:48 you'll see a slight downtick in

00:49 areas like New York, Boston,

00:51 where we're dropping down to the low

00:53 30s and even the 20s by the middle

00:55 of the week again at that cold air

00:57 is going to help support this next

00:59 snow that's going to be making its

01:01 way north and east as we head throughout

01:03 the rest of our Monday into Tuesday.

01:05 All times are local,

01:06 so let's take a look at where

01:08 this snow is going to be arriving.

01:10 It's already started to move into

01:12 parts of the mid Atlantic,

01:13 the Ohio Valley.

01:14 That's where we've been tracking

01:15 some of that snow,

01:16 even a few flurries early on in Washington,

01:18 DC.

01:18 That snow is not going to stop there,

01:20 though,

01:21 as we head into the later hours

01:23 tonight into Tuesday,

01:24 it's going to start to make its way

01:26 into areas like New York up through

01:28 all the way up through Portland.

01:29 And coastal Maine as we head into tomorrow.

01:31 Let's show you how this is

01:33 going to play out.

01:34 If you will again,

01:35 we already have those snow showers

01:37 moving on through the mid Atlantic,

01:39 Washington DC,

01:39 the Delmarva as we head into Monday

01:41 afternoon and then by Monday evening

01:43 into early Tuesday,

01:44 that's when that snow starts to

01:46 spread where we could see a nice

01:48 little thump of snow in New York,

01:50 up to Boston,

01:51 accumulating a few inches to break

01:53 that snowless streak that we've

01:54 been waiting to break for now.

01:56 Almost two years in a few of those areas.

01:59 Now it is a quick hitter.

02:01 It's not going to be sticking

02:02 around for too long,

02:04 but it is still going to cause some

02:06 problems there right along the coast.

02:08 New York, Washington DC,

02:09 Boston were calling for one to three

02:11 inches additional lake effect snow

02:13 near the lakes but Dracula local

02:14 storm X holds at 15 inches.

02:16 Mostly there a little bit further

02:18 South and a little bit further West.

02:20 Philly,

02:20 here's what's on tap for you.

02:22 One to two inches.

02:23 No fall expected late Monday 5:00 PM

02:25 all the way through Tuesday afternoon.

02:27 Around 2:00 PM a little bit more

02:29 possible in the nation's capital

02:30 one to three and that snowfall is

02:33 expected through 10:00 AM Eastern

02:34 Time on Tuesday.
