Now here's a footballer on the march back up to the top.

SSFL 2018 Most Valuable Player Mark Ramdeen has seen the good and bad sad of life in the past five years. From winning the treble with Naparima College to losing his mother and father in the same year, in this story Ramdeen will share about his journey through these trials as he returns to playing football.

Transcript
00:00 Mark Ramdeen is known for his dribbling skills on the football field. His skills
00:04 were displayed during the 2018 Secondary Schools Football League season
00:08 where he was named the most valuable player playing for Naparima College.
00:12 During that season Naps captured the treble, Premier Division, South Zone
00:17 Intercol and National Intercol titles and now he's hoping to reproduce such
00:22 success at Heritage Point Fort in Civic as he makes another transition. To me
00:27 it's been the same I don't think it's anything different as football. I just
00:32 came out here to play the sport and enjoy the game. However Ramdeen's road
00:35 back to the sport he loves has not been an easy one. In 2021 he lost both his
00:40 parents to COVID-19 a few weeks apart. It shattered him. It's hard you know
00:45 because I lost my parents probably like two years ago. It's been a rough path
00:53 going forward because I mean without that support there it's not really easy
00:58 to keep doing the things that I love you know without the support. But I think I
01:03 have some family that's there for me my brothers my aunties my grandparents
01:08 whoever is still there supporting me. I really appreciate it and I think it's
01:14 good for me that I'm still playing the game and still moving forward. With
01:19 family support and club support the 23-year-old believes he is the man once
01:24 more for the job on the field. I do I do I see myself as one of the star players
01:29 I would say not really star player but one of the outperforming players in the
01:33 team and really wanted to do my best for this team this year. The midfielder was
01:38 also involved with the national under-20 team and also got a look in on the
01:43 senior national football team. Yeah I was invited for a few training sessions I
01:47 don't know what it is really to be on a team but I think I just have to keep on
01:54 performing well and try to put my best foot forward all the time.
01:57 Ramdene hopes to reunite with former Naparima coach now national football team
02:02 head coach Angus Eve in the near future. He believes that that vision could be
02:06 realized if he finds his footing in the TT professional football league.
