Hayley Matthews and her Mumbai Indians teammates failed to secure direct passage into the finals as the Women's Premier League.

Mumbai fell to a 11-run loss to defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore, meaning they will now have to face Deandra Dottin's Gujarat Giants in the eliminator on Thursday to win a place in Saturday's final.

00:00Mumbai Indians were looking to top the table to seek direct qualification to
00:04the final when they took on RCB in the women's Premier League match in Mumbai.
00:08Defending champs RCB were put in a bat with captain Smriti Mandana making the
00:13most of the situation. They lost their first wicket at 41 with Hayley Matthews
00:19striking. Mandana would top score with 53 of 37 balls.
00:29Australian cricketer Elise Perry was next best with an unbeaten 49.
00:34Richa Ghosh also made a contribution by getting 36 runs. Ghosh was out to
00:40Matthews giving the West Indian two wickets.
00:50And Georgia Wareham made a swashbuckling 31 not out of just 10 balls as RCB
00:55closed on 199 for 3. When Mumbai Indians responded Hayley Matthews and Amelia Kerr
01:04put on 27 for the first wicket. Sneh Rana removed Matthews for 19 and
01:12then Kerr for 9. Nat Silverbrunt and captain Harmanpreet Kaur then came
01:22together and put on a 40-run partnership. Harmanpreet was out to Kim Garth for 20
01:28and MI were in trouble. Silverbrunt top scored with 69 of just 35 balls in a
01:35losing cause. Sneh Rana was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets. Garth bowled
01:45well and took two in the innings. And Elise Perry also picked up two but was
01:57expensive. Mumbai Indians were restricted to 188 for 9 from 20 overs and lost by
02:0811 runs. It means they remain second and will have to play Gujarat Giants in a
02:13virtual semi-final to see who meets tabletoppers Delhi Capitals in the final.
