2023 Volkswagen Amarok hands on first look!

This is the all-new 2023 Volkswagen Amarok! And this is your first look at it ahead of our full review.

00:03 It shares a platform with the Ford Ranger.

00:05 I'll give you a quick walk around here.

00:06 So this one here is the top spec.

00:08 It's called the Aventurer, so this one has a V6 diesel.

00:11 It also has matrix LED headlights in there.

00:15 You also have 21-inch alloy wheels.

00:17 You can get all-terrains as well if you want.

00:20 I like this on the back.

00:21 You've got a compass that points north there, just in case you forget.

00:25 LED taillights at the rear as well, and then have a look at this to open the tray.

00:30 Basically, or sorry, the tray cover.

00:33 You double-click that, and then that cracks open there as well.

00:37 Amarok embedded on the back there.

00:38 And then in the back here, you have power outlet there, a button to close that tray

00:43 lid, or again, you can just double-tap that, and that closes.

00:46 I'll show you what the back of that looks like.

00:49 So this is going to launch with a mix of four-cylinder and six-cylinder diesel, and also a four-cylinder

00:54 turbocharged petrol.

00:56 The inside is a little different too, so it isn't a direct sort of copy of the Ranger,

01:02 So this actually gets that full screen at the back there, which you can only get on

01:05 Raptor and other Everest models.

01:09 Steering wheel, unique to Volkswagen as well, so buttons there instead of the annoying haptic

01:13 touch stuff you find on some Volkswagens.

01:16 Infotainment software is different too.

01:18 So those buttons and the layout here of the gear stick.

01:23 That's looking nice and comfy.

01:24 And then the back, I quite like this.

01:26 So Ford doesn't have this anymore, which is a power outlet just here, but you do in the

01:32 new Amarok, so that is definitely a handy feature.
