00:00G'day, I'm Paul. So, when it comes to fast convertibles, they don't get much faster than
00:04that. That is the Aston Martin V12 Vantage convertible. It looks so good. I love the
00:09fact that you can still buy a V12 engine Aston Martin at the moment. And I'm in the MG Syberster,
00:15which is basically the fastest car MG sells. It's a convertible as well, but it's all electric. It
00:20doesn't have any cylinders. So, it's going to be an interesting drag race. Elbows, run me through
00:25the specs on that thing. This is a twin turbo 5.2 litre V12. So, it is an absolute monster. It's
00:31got 515 kilowatts of power and 753 newton metres of torque. Look, it's big. It's a little bit heavier
00:38than I would like, but I reckon if I can get my launch right, you're not going to have a hope in
00:42hell. This is two tonnes. So, this is big as well, but we're almost matched for torque. This is around
00:47700 newton metres of torque. So, it's going to be interesting. Your rear wheel drive, so that's
00:52going to be a little tricky. I'm all-wheel drive, so it will be interesting to see how it goes. So,
00:57what we're going to do, we're going to drag race down the quarter mile here. Then, we're going to
01:00do a roll race. And at the end, I'm just going to be quiet so you can listen to the exhaust sound on
01:06that thing and see the exact numbers we log. A big shout out to MG for helping us cover the cost of
01:10putting all this on. And if you do want to check out our single car review of the Syberster, where I put
01:15it through its paces at our proving ground, you can use the link in the description below. And finally,
01:19a massive thanks to our mate Lawrence, who has loaned us some of his incredible cars to run some
01:24of these drag races. So, I reckon we need to get started. All right, Megan, if you're happy to
01:29count us in, please. All right, I've got this in Supersport, and I'm going to put launch control on.
01:37Oh, a little bit of wheels spinning there off the line.
01:39Oh, a little bit of wheels spinning there off the line. I have destroyed him.
02:01Oh, my God. This is embarrassing.
02:04Oh, this is, this is mega quick. Far out.
02:15Okay, so, your launch was non-existent. Your wheels were like spinning off the line, but
02:22nothing was happening. Yes, it didn't actually activate launch control. It just sort of sat
02:27there and looked at you drive off. So, I want to do that again.
02:29Okay, let's go back and do that one more time. Now, it is very obviously wet here, which is not
02:36helping elbows over there, but I can't control the weather, unfortunately. I think even if he did
02:41have traction, I'd still probably have him. This feels so much quicker than that. But we'll see
02:46what happens when we do the roll race, because I think that's where, if you don't have traction
02:49off the line, it kind of makes it a little fairer. Launching on go. Three, two, one, go.
03:00Okay.
03:02Go.
03:04Okay, that was good. Man, this thing out of the box is unreal. Ah, come on.
03:10You know what? He doesn't even really catch up to me all that much. Like, he's still ages
03:24behind.
03:27You know what? I'm just thinking that even if you do get a launch there, I just think this
03:33is significantly quicker. I'm surprised by how much quicker this is. When we go do our
03:40roll race now, I think it'll be closer, but I just don't know that you're going to have
03:43any luck catching me.
03:44Well, I had launch control working that time. Didn't seem to do anything, did it?
03:48Yeah, look, I know it's wet, and that's rear-wheel drive, but yeah, I don't know. It just does
03:53not seem to even catch me. Once you get traction, you're still sort of nowhere to be found. This
03:58is sort of light years ahead. So, actually, you know what we should do? Should we take the
04:02roofs off?
04:02Ah, yes. We should totally do a race with the roofs off. That would be epic.
04:06All right, let's do that. At least I can hear that. Well, I won't be able to hear it,
04:09because I'll be firing in front of you, but anyway. Now, Alvos, I thought before we do
04:14our roof-down drag race, I want you to feel like you've achieved something today. So,
04:18what if we do a roof-down drag race, as in how long it takes the roof to come off?
04:23I'm happy to do that, but did you know that the roof in your car is out of a BMW Z4? Same
04:27company that makes the roof for that car makes it for the Syberster.
04:30Oh, well, yeah, you learn something new every day. All right, Megan, count us in when you're ready.
04:35Three, two, one, go. Go, go, go. I am so much faster.
04:43You bastard. You've got to go all the way to the end.
04:46I'm like...
04:47Look at you winning something. I won by at least a quarter mile there.
04:55And I think we need to go proper convertible windows down as well.
04:58Now, you probably won't hear anything that we're about to say,
05:00So, just enjoy a bit of wind noise for the next 400 metres or so.
05:05Launching on go. Three, two, one, go.
05:13Go.
05:14Oh, this does not get old.
05:22That does sound good, though.
05:24You can't hear me, so anyway.
05:26Ah.
05:30I'm losing.
05:42Oh, yeah.
05:47Oh, there is so much wind.
05:50Let's go back and do a roll race.
05:52I am so slow.
05:53Yes.
05:54This is so slow. What is going on?
05:56Okay, so we're doing a roll race now.
05:59Elbors has selected his optimum gear.
06:01This is electric, so I'm just going to mash the throttle.
06:03When Igor over there with his hat drops it down,
06:06we're going to be doing about 50 k's an hour,
06:08and then we'll see how we go.
06:09He might have some lucky.
06:11You never know.
06:13Oh, look at him just jumping ahead, ready to go.
06:16All right, I'm going to pick a second gear at 50 kilometres an hour.
06:19Heaps of torque, right?
06:20I should win.
06:21Oh, that's not too bad.
06:29Come on, come on, come on.
06:30Have some legs.
06:31Have some legs.
06:32Yes.
06:33Oh, no.
06:34Oh, no.
06:35What?
06:40What?
06:41Yes.
06:42Oh, I'm winning.
06:44Yeah, baby.
06:46What?
06:49What?
06:51That is not okay.
06:53Oh, that was so good.
06:54I actually won something.
06:55I'm so confused.
06:57I think traction is the big deal here.
06:59Clearly, this car isn't as slow as I was giving it crap for,
07:02but it certainly can't get off the line in the slightest damn temperature.
07:05Yeah, let's do that just one last time,
07:07because I kind of, I felt sorry for you a little bit,
07:12and I may not have been as sharp as I should have been on reaction,
07:15so just one last time on that.
07:17Okay, here we go.
07:18This time I will be much sharper on that throttle.
07:22I'll watch him like a hawk.
07:24I'm going to win again to prove that it wasn't luck,
07:27but pure skill.
07:28That's better.
07:35Come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on.
07:39Oh, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on.
07:42Oh, this is going to be close.
07:47Come on, I'm getting him, I'm getting him.
07:48Oh, that was like, I don't know who won, actually.
08:00I am going to have to defer to the judges on that.
08:03I've got no idea who won that.
08:05Sean, give us the news over the radio.
08:07Bubbles, the good news is you didn't lose that badly.
08:12There was about a bumper in it.
08:15Yes, I have won.
08:17That is all I need to hear from this conversation.
08:19Thank you, Sean.
08:21Now, this is where I'm going to throw to the part
08:23where I'm just going to be quiet,
08:24and you get to hear what these cars sound like
08:27accelerating down the quarter mile.
08:54So, this is where I'm going to be quiet,
09:24Ah, that was exciting. I think, to be honest, it did help that it was slightly wet, but yeah,
09:36I feel like they've just jammed a V12 into that for the sake of doing it. I think the V8 is
09:40probably the better engine, and ironically, it's not theirs. But anyway, if you did enjoy this
09:45video, please make sure you like it and share it with your mates. Big shout out to the legends
09:49here at Wildcatchem, all of the volunteers that are out here while we're doing drag racing this
09:53week. Make sure you subscribe to the channel and press the bell icon as well so you can find out
09:56every single time one of these drag races goes live. But until next time, take it easy.
