00:00 G'day, I'm Paul. Have a look at this. This is the next generation Nissan GT-R.
00:04 Well, they're not calling it the Nissan GT-R, but this is what the R36 is going to be.
00:08 Important highlight notes here are that the induction engine is gone,
00:12 so it is no longer an internal combustion car. It is going to be fully electric,
00:16 and it's going to be powered by a solid-state battery as well.
00:19 So Nissan's working on that technology at the moment. They're going to have it rolling
00:22 down a production line in 2024, but this car itself is going to be out in 2028.
00:26 So still a little bit of time away, but it is fascinating because even this concept car has
00:31 few elements to it that will make it into production. So down the front there,
00:34 those little scallops there pop out for aero. It's been designed to kind of mimic a race car
00:39 in the sense that the aero is there solely to provide downforce. The other interesting thing
00:43 as well is that normally with these concept cars, they're all done by a designer, but in this
00:47 instance here, some of this stuff that you see here was actually done by the R&D department.
00:52 So that spoiler, for example, it's actually a spoiler that will likely make it into production.
00:56 Looks similar to what we've seen on Porsche products before as well,
00:59 and it kind of gives it that downforce that it needs on the rear. Look at those taillights as
01:03 well. So that four set of circles that we've seen on other GT-R products is here as well.
01:08 Carbon fibre production, and then inside the cabin they've got augmented reality and virtual
01:13 reality as well for the driver. So it is a pretty comprehensive package. Down the bottom there,
01:16 1,000 kilowatts, so that is over 1,300 horsepower out of this, which will be incredible stuff,
01:23 and given that it is a carbon construction and they are going to go down the path of a
01:26 solid-state battery, it should mean that it is light enough to do some pretty incredible speeds.
01:30 You can even see here, they're not saying it's a GT-R, but you can see on all the logos there,
01:34 they've kind of blurred it so that it kind of looks like a GT-R. So I'm keen for your feedback,
01:39 what do you reckon about this concept car? Are you excited for the next generation of the GT-R?
01:44 I'm keen to see what you think, let me know in the comments section below. This has been our
01:47 first look at this, we're going to keep tabs on this and see how it develops and exactly what
01:51 comes of it. If you want to see some more coverage from the Tokyo Motor Show, you can head to the
