The Tobago Regional Health Authority (TRHA) in collaboration with the HIV Workplace Advocacy Unit of the Ministry of Labour hosted a series of sensitization training seminars titled HIV Advocacy in the Workplace. These sessions aimed to educate staff on the various topics surrounding HIV and AIDS in the workplace. More in this Elizabeth Williams report.

00:00 In his opening remarks, Acting CEO of the TRHA Garth Alexander highlighted the importance
00:07 of access to education in the workplace and its role in reducing the stigma and discrimination
00:14 surrounding HIV and AIDS.
00:16 He said that one's status does not reduce one's contribution to the workplace or society.
00:23 HIV and AIDS advocacy officers Elisha Forjani and Keston Johnson facilitated the training
00:32 sessions.
00:33 The training focused on the role of the individual in creating a stigma and discrimination-free
00:38 environment for people living with HIV and AIDS and the importance of implementing policies
00:45 to protect such people in the workplace.
00:49 Both members were briefed on the national workplace policy for HIV and AIDS, which include
00:55 a framework for action that sets national standards for the management and reduction
01:01 of the spread of HIV in the workplace.
01:04 The training sessions were held at the Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection's
