00:03 Okay, let's get back to our favorite subject here, Mike,
00:05 sports betting in the state of Florida
00:07 and the Seminole tribe.
00:09 Last week, the Supreme Court denied
00:11 a Florida sports betting stay.
00:13 And so the initial response was,
00:15 well, maybe sports betting could be coming to Florida soon.
00:18 And then we got to wait, hold the phone here.
00:21 You know, December 1st, still an appeal in place here.
00:24 And Mike, the more that this happens,
00:26 the more I'm getting the sense
00:27 that sports betting is coming back
00:28 and the Hard Rock app is coming back.
00:31 It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when,
00:34 but I just don't think we know when.
00:36 And it does seem to me
00:38 that there's a couple of more hurdles.
00:40 It feels like Wes Flagler and this group
00:41 are just trying to throw anything at the wall
00:43 to make it stick.
00:44 I think inevitably that app is gonna be up and running,
00:47 but I can't say it'll be this week, next week, week after.
00:50 If you had to ask me, Mike, 2024,
00:52 I would say the answer is unequivocally yes.
00:55 I do think sports betting is coming back in 24.
00:57 I just don't know what it'll be today or tomorrow.
01:00 - Right, Craig.
01:02 And that's exactly the question we've all been asking.
01:04 You know, we'll see what happens.
01:06 That's something that Hard Rock,
01:08 maybe it's talking internally.
01:09 Maybe their lawyers are saying one thing
01:11 and then the people that wanna run the book,
01:13 you know, probably wanna do it yesterday
01:15 because there's NFL season going on.
01:16 This is the time you wanna be up.
01:18 And so maybe the legal team decides,
01:19 yeah, let's get through all this casework, right?
01:21 We saw that this stay was vacated
01:23 by the Supreme Court Justice,
01:25 but then we saw Kavanaugh come out
01:26 and kind of give this equal protection argument
01:29 that they could use in the state court, right?
01:30 That the expanded gambling violates the Florida Constitution
01:34 and potentially some equal protection issues there
01:36 with betting on nine tribal lands
01:39 and then the compact giving the tribe exclusivity
01:41 for 30 years to offer sports betting.
01:43 Only the Seminoles and Hard Rock could do that
01:44 under the deal that was signed with the Sandison 2021.
01:47 So yeah, I mean, it's a wait and see thing, Craig.
01:49 We talk about it every week.
01:49 Sometimes we think, hey, it's not gonna happen
01:51 the rest of the year.
01:52 Then maybe now you feel like, well,
01:54 they could potentially go up.
01:56 Worst case, they'd shut down,
01:57 but they'd still have that exclusivity.
01:59 So maybe they're all right with that, or maybe they're not.
02:00 Maybe they say, we don't wanna shut down again.
02:02 The customer might be confused
02:06 as to why it continues to shut down.
02:07 Okay, let me go back to betting with my bookie here,
02:09 an illegal offshore operator.
02:10 So yeah, a lot of wait and see in Florida,
02:13 which we had more information,
02:15 but right now we're just still in wait and see mode.
