00:03 Okay, let's close it out.
00:04 Let's get the conspiracy theorists out here.
00:06 Oh my gosh, DraftKings, NBA, partnership,
00:10 selling shirts in the NBA with the DraftKings logo.
00:13 Oh my gosh, how are they in bed with the NBA?
00:15 I mean, let's get over ourselves here.
00:17 I mean for a minute, this should not be a surprise.
00:19 I guess Sam, is there more to this other than just hey,
00:25 you know, selling apparel, maybe who knows at some point,
00:28 giveaways for t-shirts and things of that nature.
00:31 I know that they're going to people screaming at the top of their lungs.
00:33 How can this be possible?
00:34 How can you want to wear a shirt with your team in the NBA and
00:36 also have DraftKings?
00:37 But come on, let's get real.
00:38 We know that there's a partnership there and it's a paid one too.
00:41 >> Yeah, Craig, there's definitely not more to this other than more marketing,
00:46 branding, marriage association between, you know,
00:50 these two companies that make a lot off of sports betting.
00:53 Those same conspiracy theorists you're talking about,
00:55 it might shock them to know that the NBA was actually one of the leagues that sued
00:59 to stop sports betting, the NFL, NHL,
01:02 they all tried to prevent states from getting the right to legalize sports betting.
01:06 Now you flash forward years later, DraftKings is selling Lakers shirts
01:10 with their logo on it in a partnership with the NBA.
01:14 The most significant thing would be if, you know, the NBA was really behind it and
01:18 pushing it.
01:18 Well, this is all coming from DraftKings.
01:20 They're basically just using the rights to the NBA logos to put their own kind of
01:24 twist on it and it's only going to be sold online at the DraftKings website.
01:28 All this apparel, hats, t-shirts, basically, you know,
01:31 just your favorite team logo with a crown or a crown in the background or
01:34 something like that.
01:35 It's pretty much just a marketing thing, but it is interesting to see, you know,
01:38 how far we've come from one of the leagues that sued to stop sports betting.
01:44 So, you know, some people might be up in arms about it, but
01:47 it won't be at team stores, it won't be at arenas.
01:50 So it's just another way for DraftKings to get their brand out there.
01:53 It's sort of what we see like with companies building sports books at arenas.
01:58 DraftKings and FanDuel have all done that at different NBA arenas.
02:01 You know, people ask why you do that when you have, you know, sports betting in the
02:04 palm of your hand, but it's all just marketing and getting your name out there.
02:08 One of my colleagues, Mike Mazzeo, joked that this would be the first time the Knicks
02:12 are wearing a crown in 50 years.
02:13 He knows I'm a Knicks fan, so that hit close to home.
02:16 But DraftKings is doing well right now.
02:19 They just overtook FanDuel for the first time in online gaming share in August.
02:24 So they're trying to ramp out their brand as much as possible and basically get publicity
02:29 out there for stuff like this.
02:31 So yeah, not too significant.
02:33 I wouldn't dig deeper.
