Tottenham Hotspur: Spurs look ahead to Liverpool test
Transcript
00:00 And finally, just looking ahead to Liverpool at the weekend, Liverpool certainly have had a decent start to the season,
00:06 they've picked up a lot of victories, although they have looked at times vulnerable in my opinion.
00:11 Certainly in first halves of games, they've sort of not got going until the second half of the match to turn things around.
00:16 So if you can get ahead in that first half, then perhaps the game is there to be won against Liverpool.
00:21 But they still pose threats, though, don't they?
00:24 Yeah, I think they've been the perennial slow starters, haven't they, this season, very much in the mould of Spurs last season.
00:29 It took us until the second half to get going and actually come out of our shell and try and win a game of football.
00:34 So I certainly know how Liverpool fans might be feeling around that one, but they'll be another big test for us, no doubt.
00:42 I mean, they've started the season very, very strongly.
00:44 I'd expect a similar game to the Arsenal contest, to be honest with you.
00:47 I think it'll be end-to-end, it'll be exciting.
00:49 Both teams will try and play our ways, inverted commas.
00:53 I think the slight difference with Liverpool is that they've got more of a threat in front of goal.
00:57 I mean, Arsenal, quality side, credit where it's due, but they do lack a goal scorer.
01:03 I think Jesus obviously missed a big chance at the weekend.
01:06 Ketia, he can be in and out, whereas Liverpool have got real threats up at the top of the par.
01:12 You know, Mr Likes and Mo Salah.
01:14 Darwin Nunes has been in good form, hasn't he?
01:16 And he's very, very direct, very quick.
01:19 So it'll be a slightly different test, I think, for Spurs in terms of the defensive side of the game.
01:25 But I think, again, we won't change.
01:27 I don't think Liverpool will be thrilled with the prospect to come into Tottenham this weekend.
01:32 I think we'll see lots of goals, probably at both ends.
01:35 But it'd be nice to get one over on Liverpool because we've got a horrendous record against them.
01:38 And we all know what happened at Anfield in the last kick of the game last season when we'd come from behind.
01:44 And then we were heartbroken when Jota nipped in after the Lucas Moura mistake.
01:47 So we certainly owe them one.
01:49 Obviously, we've got history with them after the Champions League final as well,
01:53 where you could argue we pretty much outplayed them that night,
01:56 but never really looked like scoring a goal.
02:00 So, yeah, it'd be nice to get one over on them,
02:02 but it'll be a tough test, one that we have to overcome.
02:05 I think it'll be 51 games poster Coggle wasn't lost at home, if we can avoid defeat in this one.
02:11 So fingers crossed. And then, you know, the fixtures on paper, at least, start to ease off a little bit for us in October.
02:17 So we can hopefully continue the progress.
02:20 but yeah, it'll be a tough game this one for sure.
