Daniel Wales reports on Bristol City ahead of their clash in the Championship at home against Hull City.
Transcript
00:00It's been a mixed week of fortunes for Bristol City.
00:04They picked up a point in their last championship match,
00:08albeit conceding a late equaliser against Derby County.
00:11And then they went to Craven Cottage and got some good experience
00:15playing a Premier League side, but ultimately lost 2-0
00:18and were dumped out of the competition.
00:19And then Josh Stokes has now been confirmed to have picked up
00:23a broken metatarsal.
00:24So you could argue perhaps actually there's more negative
00:27than there is positive there.
00:28But for Bristol City, they next go into the championship
00:32and face Hull City back home at Ashton Gate
00:35and hope to get back to winning ways after, of course,
00:38their opening day win away at Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.
00:42It won't be an easy test against Hull,
00:44but it's a game that they will be the favourites in,
00:47favourites to pick up all three points and win.
00:50So can they handle the pressure and make sure that they are
00:53getting back to winning ways as quickly as possible?
00:55Let's hear what Kurt Hodstuber had to say.
00:58Yeah, with Stokes, we have...
01:02Yeah, we were worried.
01:04Right now we know it is a broken metatarsal.
01:08Yeah, so broken foot.
01:11His injury will cost him three months.
01:17Yeah.
01:18So, yeah, we are very...
01:20I feel very sorry for him.
01:21So he was in the pre-season and a little bit out with injury.
01:24And then we realised he is on the way back.
01:27And now, ah, an injury on this level.
01:31Yeah, it's bad.
01:32But, yeah, it's the situation.
01:35And we have to do the best right now for him
01:37that he is hopefully quick back.
01:39And especially for him because having had a pretty successful loan all of last year
01:44and he'll have been desperately keen to impress
01:47and to not get that opportunity because of an injury is doubly frustrating.
01:51Yes, of course.
01:52It's a big frustration for himself.
01:54And I can feel with which ambition he would be on the training,
01:59how he liked it to step in the world of football,
02:04what we want to do.
02:06And he made good steps.
02:09Yeah, but this is sport.
02:11And you cannot control everything.
02:13And this is a moment, yeah, he's not alone with that.
02:17We have the one or other player next to him with injury.
02:21So, yeah, they help together and do everything.
02:26And with the medical group and with the physios that he is hopefully back soon.
02:32Well, fingers crossed that that does happen.
02:35Thankfully, there's only another three days left before the window closes
02:38and we don't have to keep asking you questions.
02:40But I think we know that the club would like to add to the squad
02:45and maybe a couple of people leaving.
02:47What is the situation at the moment?
02:50The situation is at the moment that we are very busy in all direction.
02:54And I would say the last few days, also yesterday and today,
02:59that the thing's going on.
03:02And I am very hopeful that we realise.
03:05We realise the one or other player in the next days.
03:10We know Monday everything will close and this means we have to bring tempo in our process.
03:18But I would say we will do it in the next few days.
03:24So you've got as much as, you know, the English expression is how long is a piece of string?
03:28You never quite know, but you've got some confidence that something will happen.
03:32Yeah, I think we, I did a good homework.
03:36I think I work very hard in this direction to have, in the end,
03:41for the club players on the table, they can help us.
03:45So I think in more directions, we need more people on the driver's seat right now
03:52and go together in this way.
03:56But my feeling is good and I have big trust in our management and in our owner
04:02that we can do it in this way.
04:04And I hope we realise it in the next one or two days.
04:08Well, let's hope that that does happen.
04:10From all the games that you've played so far this season,
04:13is there an area of play that you are particularly happy with?
04:18Something you think the team has really grasped well?
04:21Yeah, I would say I can see that when we come in transition moments,
04:26we are sharp and we have a clear idea how we want to break our opponent down.
04:32This is a very good mix between dynamic and also technical power
04:39and also decision making.
04:41I would say in this way we are sharp.
