00:05:40 (upbeat music)
00:05:44 (upbeat music)
00:06:14 - And welcome back everyone.
00:06:15 You know, as I look through the newspaper this morning,
00:06:18 it's crime, crime and more crime.
00:06:21 You remember some years ago,
00:06:23 I remember a businessman in Trinidad and Tobago
00:06:26 talking about, oh, members of the media
00:06:29 are putting too much crime on the front pages,
00:06:31 but I want to ask him and other people,
00:06:34 if you don't put crime on the front pages,
00:06:38 does that mean that the crime did not occur?
00:06:40 Yeah?
00:06:41 So think about that.
00:06:43 But more importantly, it is a situation
00:06:46 that we are going to have to deal with.
00:06:49 Yeah, and I don't think that it is true to say
00:06:52 that those in authority have not been trying
00:06:55 to deal with the situation.
00:06:57 But I think that, as I always say,
00:07:00 I think that time has run out.
00:07:03 Time has run out.
00:07:04 Look at what has happened or what happened yesterday.
00:07:07 You're talking about in broad daylight.
00:07:10 I mean, you can say what you want to say
00:07:13 about the victim of the incident, all right,
00:07:16 because I understand that he's known to the police and so on.
00:07:19 But you're talking about an incident
00:07:21 happening in broad daylight.
00:07:23 What about members of the public
00:07:25 who were doing their business at that time of the morning?
00:07:30 Yeah, so there is a serious situation of safety
00:07:35 and security in Trinidad and Tobago.
00:07:39 So from what I'm seeing in the newspaper this morning,
00:07:42 you have six more killings
00:07:45 and they have pushed the murder rate to over 400.
00:07:49 Remember last year, we had over 600 murders.
00:07:54 So now we do have a situation
00:07:57 where we have gone over 400 murders.
00:07:59 And I don't know, this has to be of concern,
00:08:03 I think, to everyone.
00:08:06 It has to be of concern.
00:08:09 But again, how long have we been speaking
00:08:13 about this situation?
00:08:14 And how long have we spent billions and billions of dollars?
00:08:19 And how long we have not gotten the desired results?
00:08:24 So it has to now encompass out of the box thinking
00:08:30 to deal with crime in Trinidad and Tobago.
00:08:35 And how do you deal with crime?
00:08:36 What I know about nationals in this country
00:08:41 is that as long as they feel there are repercussions,
00:08:46 then they will behave.
00:08:48 If you continue to treat people with a slap on the wrist,
00:08:53 what do you think is going to happen?
00:08:55 So, I mean, we are going to keep on talking, talking,
00:08:59 talking, talking about this situation.
00:09:01 But to me, one murder is too much.
00:09:04 One home invasion is too much.
00:09:06 One robbery is too much.
00:09:08 And I think that if people in authority
00:09:12 think about it in this way,
00:09:13 I mean, it's all good to talk about it
00:09:16 and to give assurances.
00:09:17 But if you do think about crime in that way,
00:09:20 well, I don't know that anyone in authority
00:09:23 would be able to sleep at night, you know?
00:09:25 Yeah, and they are going to have to put things in place
00:09:28 to deal with this situation, yeah?
00:09:31 Let's see what we do have in the newspaper.
00:09:34 Again, "Lynch was fair," says Attorney Alfonso,
00:09:38 Chairman of the Paracommission of Inquiry.
00:09:40 Jerome Lynch, Casey, was fair
00:09:43 and claims of bias against the commission
00:09:46 at the 13th hour are unfortunate
00:09:49 and serve only to negate all the work that has been done,
00:09:53 says Attorney Nyree Alfonso.
00:09:57 Yeah, so there's this great debate
00:09:59 concerning this commission of inquiry
00:10:01 where we have already spent millions of dollars on.
00:10:06 All right?
00:10:07 So as I told you at the beginning of the program today
00:10:12 during the introduction,
00:10:14 there are problems on the sea bridge
00:10:17 between Trinidad and Tobago.
00:10:20 Of course, businesses have been affected
00:10:23 over the past few days.
00:10:25 And this all stems from a fire
00:10:27 which broke out on the Cabo Star on August 23rd.
00:10:31 Well, yesterday, the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago
00:10:35 faced the media telling them that help is underway.
00:10:40 A vessel known as, I had the name of the vessel here,
00:10:45 the Emprendedora.
00:10:48 That's a vessel that is coming from Venezuela
00:10:52 to aid business people to assist in trade
00:10:57 between Trinidad and Tobago.
00:10:59 Well, online at this time,
00:11:00 we do have businesswoman Diane Haddad.
00:11:02 Ms. Haddad, good morning.
00:11:04 - Good morning to you, Marlon, and your viewers.
00:11:07 - Yeah.
00:11:07 Well, Ms. Haddad, as I said earlier,
00:11:10 this fire broke out on the Cabo Star on August 23rd,
00:11:14 according to a report here.
00:11:16 Since then, business people have been
00:11:19 very much affected in Tobago.
00:11:21 If you can, Ms. Haddad,
00:11:23 and I want you to be as vivid as possible this morning,
00:11:28 if you can tell us about the hardships
00:11:30 Tobogonians have been going through
00:11:32 because of this situation.
00:11:33 - Well, may I say, Marlon,
00:11:36 it's not just hardships for Tobogonians
00:11:38 because when the ferry had the fire,
00:11:42 we would have had trucks on the ferry,
00:11:44 both belonging to Trinidadians and Tobogonians
00:11:48 heading back to Trinidad for the Trinidadians
00:11:51 and our Tobogonians would have been having our vehicles
00:11:55 on the vessel going to collect supplies to come back up.
00:11:59 So there are trucks in Tobago, trucks and trailers,
00:12:02 et cetera, that are stuck now on the return on the island
00:12:07 that cannot go back to Trinidad
00:12:09 that belong to persons who are obviously
00:12:11 getting no income from them.
00:12:14 Similarly, our trucks that went down and had to return,
00:12:17 like myself who had three trucks on that ferry,
00:12:21 you are not able to get any goods coming up
00:12:24 because the 10 ton trucks are not able to go
00:12:28 on the fast ferries.
00:12:29 And not many people do have smaller vehicles
00:12:33 to be able to put on the fast ferries to bring supplies up.
00:12:38 Similarly, on top of that,
00:12:40 the trucks to bring up supplies that are smaller,
00:12:45 it really doesn't do anything good to your stock.
00:12:50 So, and then we are all fighting for space
00:12:53 because there's no proper communication
00:12:55 in terms of how those ferries are working.
00:12:58 So it's really wait and see, suffer by the port,
00:13:02 and then you will know whether a boat
00:13:04 is going to take your truck or not,
00:13:07 even if you got on, even if you're one of the lucky ones
00:13:10 that got to come down to Trinidad to get supply.
00:13:13 - But Ms. Haddad, from what I'm seeing here,
00:13:14 it seems to be a very dire situation.
00:13:16 I'm seeing a video here that we have been showing
00:13:19 of empty shelves at groceries.
00:13:22 - Well, I myself would have supplied pictures
00:13:28 of my warehouse, one of them,
00:13:30 which is very empty at this stage.
00:13:32 You see, I'll tell you what happened there, Marlon.
00:13:37 This thing continues for years.
00:13:39 Since I remember myself, that's all we know.
00:13:42 And the sea bridge,
00:13:47 in terms of supply in June,
00:13:50 we would have had to stockpile, right?
00:13:54 Ahead of the boat going into dry dock
00:13:59 for service for two weeks.
00:14:01 And this boat was service for two weeks in June.
00:14:06 It went from the 5th, I think, to the 16th of June.
00:14:09 And we would have had to stockpile.
00:14:12 To do that, we had to put out resources financially
00:14:15 and whatever to get staff to work extra
00:14:17 to bring up goods and keep it.
00:14:20 During that period, we had problems
00:14:22 with the staff on the port,
00:14:24 locked the boat early,
00:14:26 and locked off trucks before time for us to get supplies.
00:14:31 So this entire port behavior
00:14:33 is not a working environment
00:14:38 in the best interest of Tobago Indians and the island.
00:14:43 So we had problems then.
00:14:45 So we stockpiled.
00:14:47 Then, of course, the boat, surprisingly,
00:14:50 did come back out in time.
00:14:53 Normally, it doesn't.
00:14:54 Normally, they tell you a week, two weeks,
00:14:56 and they take three and a month, and it's a story.
00:14:59 Surprisingly, they came back out on time.
00:15:01 So for the boat to have a fire two months later,
00:15:06 just about June, July, August, yes,
00:15:08 it begs to ask a lot of questions
00:15:13 because the boat has just come out of servicing.
00:15:15 - Do you think that the Port Authority
00:15:17 of Trinidad and Tobago acted fast enough
00:15:20 to deal with this situation?
00:15:21 Of course, we know that the fire occurred on the 23rd.
00:15:25 Yesterday, the Port Authority faced members of the media.
00:15:29 So it has been a few days now
00:15:33 that business people have been affected.
00:15:34 - It's not a few days.
00:15:35 It's exactly two weeks.
00:15:37 Marlon, it's two weeks and two days.
00:15:40 As of yesterday, that's what it meant.
00:15:43 And it's very difficult to last very long
00:15:48 without that ferry moving.
00:15:51 Now, I want to take us back.
00:15:53 There are many people who surprised me
00:15:56 because we have not heard anything
00:15:57 from all the representatives in this country.
00:16:01 So you have not heard anything
00:16:02 from the leader of the country.
00:16:04 You have not heard anything
00:16:05 from the minister directly responsible for this department.
00:16:09 You have not heard anything from the two
00:16:10 Tobago representatives that reside in the cabinet
00:16:14 and in the parliament.
00:16:15 You have not heard anything from the THA's leader.
00:16:18 You have not heard anything from the representative
00:16:21 in Tobago that deals with that department.
00:16:25 You have not heard anything
00:16:26 from any of the THA representatives.
00:16:28 You have not heard anything substantial
00:16:31 from the lobby groups that pay fees to be a member there.
00:16:35 So it is amazing that everybody has decided
00:16:39 to sit and drink the juice because they are all dying.
00:16:43 - What about the announcement by the port authority
00:16:49 that the Venezuelan vessel, the MV Emprendedora
00:16:54 is expected to arrive in Trinidad and Tobago
00:16:58 over the weekend?
00:16:59 - All right, so let me just tell you
00:17:01 when I heard that media conference.
00:17:05 There are many things that we must pick up
00:17:06 in the language being spoken to us.
00:17:08 That boat is a land and craft.
00:17:14 They were clear to describe it as a land and craft, right?
00:17:17 A land and craft, you go to do the research,
00:17:21 indicates that it has a flat base
00:17:23 and that it's used to pull material and whatever.
00:17:29 Let us also say that the picture
00:17:32 of the boat that's floating around,
00:17:35 indicates that it doesn't have very high sides.
00:17:38 So the exposure to persons' vehicles,
00:17:42 if they're allowed to go on that boat,
00:17:44 within a month, you're gonna be looking for your truck
00:17:49 because the sea blast is going to lick it up, right?
00:17:53 Let us go now with the other language used,
00:17:58 that it will take 10 hours to get across to Tobago.
00:18:05 So for 10 hours for it to get across to Tobago,
00:18:09 means that we are only going to be able
00:18:10 to get that boat every other day
00:18:13 'cause there are only 24 hours in the day.
00:18:15 So it has to take 10 hours to go,
00:18:16 it has to upload, it has to go back around 10 hours.
00:18:20 You have to work, I guess, of course,
00:18:22 within the timelines of the staff of the port,
00:18:25 otherwise they will engage over time
00:18:27 and that usually is also a criteria
00:18:29 that they take and give us as an excuse.
00:18:32 The other thing that you need to listen to
00:18:35 is the fact that it says,
00:18:37 it takes 1/10 of the Cabo Star's capacity.
00:18:41 They also indicated that a Cabo Star
00:18:43 could take 300 vehicles.
00:18:45 So 1/10 of that speaks to the fact
00:18:47 that it's probably only going to be able to take
00:18:49 somewhere between 25 to 30 trucks
00:18:52 or a combination of trucks and containers.
00:18:55 So of course, it cannot take any passengers, that's clear.
00:19:01 So the drivers for the trucks are gonna have to go back
00:19:04 to catching the boat, then running to catch either
00:19:08 the fast ferry to go on to sail up
00:19:11 to catch the boat coming off into Bago
00:19:13 or they're gonna have to go to the airport
00:19:15 and catch the delayed flights
00:19:18 that we are now experiencing
00:19:19 at Caribbean Airlines and the airport.
00:19:22 - So I suspect what you're suggesting, Ms. Haddad,
00:19:26 is maybe the introduction of another vessel
00:19:29 on the sea bridge.
00:19:31 - Well, if I take you back, Marlon,
00:19:33 and you may not have been as involved then,
00:19:37 but I'm certain you are up to date
00:19:39 with what goes on in the news, that's your business.
00:19:41 - Yes.
00:19:42 - When we would have had the fiasco of the ferry previously,
00:19:48 and I was deemed and then named the boat lady,
00:19:51 in those meetings with the Minister of Transport,
00:19:55 after the two fast ferries were ordered
00:19:58 and were coming in, we were promised
00:20:00 that a purpose-built cargo vessel
00:20:03 will be bought in order to carry on a double move
00:20:08 where we will have two vessels going up and down
00:20:12 so we would not encounter this problem again.
00:20:15 To date, we have not even heard of the thought
00:20:19 of a purpose-built cargo vessel.
00:20:22 So all of these things were addressed
00:20:24 at Mount Irvine Hotel years ago
00:20:26 when we had the crisis and fiasco
00:20:30 of the very good-working, super-fast Galicia,
00:20:35 a very good-working manager of the Port Leon Grant,
00:20:39 and we came and destroyed all of it.
00:20:42 And I believe there are still court cases
00:20:44 running around, accusations made against persons.
00:20:48 And to date, we are still suffering.
00:20:51 And we had a boat, a vessel that was working beautifully,
00:20:55 that at the time, the owner was prepared
00:20:58 to put on 300 seats, if my memory serves right,
00:21:01 to then accommodate passengers
00:21:03 'cause the ferry worked so well.
00:21:05 We got night rest with the working of that boat.
00:21:08 We are back to no night rest with this.
00:21:10 Should we all go like animals down there
00:21:13 to fight to get on any vessel right now?
00:21:16 - So then, Miss Haddad, the question is,
00:21:19 what do you do in the meantime?
00:21:21 Is it a wait-and-see approach?
00:21:24 - What do we do?
00:21:25 I would want to suggest that we take our keys
00:21:28 and give them to the banks
00:21:29 and let them come and run the businesses
00:21:31 because you are getting pressure all sides.
00:21:34 We have just come out of a pandemic for two years.
00:21:37 People's businesses were shut down.
00:21:39 Tobago has already been suffering
00:21:41 from a lack of tourism and economic activity.
00:21:44 We continuously create more debt
00:21:46 and get ourselves going into more debt over and over
00:21:51 with some level of thing of hope and prayer.
00:21:54 And we are going nowhere
00:21:56 with what is deemed leadership in this country.
00:21:59 - Yesterday, it was also announced
00:22:02 that in relation to the Cabo Star,
00:22:06 that repairs should be completed by December.
00:22:12 Is this satisfactory?
00:22:14 - Repairs for what is completed?
00:22:16 - The Cabo Star, on the Cabo Star.
00:22:18 And I suspect it should be back in operation in December.
00:22:21 - No, that was not said.
00:22:23 I think there's a mistake.
00:22:24 What they said, they did not commit.
00:22:27 They indicated, if I listen correctly to Mr. Alexander,
00:22:31 what he said was that the engine was already fixed.
00:22:36 That's the claim.
00:22:42 The engine was already fixed.
00:22:44 However, they are waiting the cables for the generator,
00:22:49 the electrical aspect of the vessel.
00:22:54 And therefore, when the cables arrive,
00:22:58 they will get it fixed.
00:22:59 They have everything lined up.
00:23:01 However, what they are not sure about and can't commit to
00:23:06 is the certification 'cause they must get, of course,
00:23:11 I want to imagine it's Lloyd's certification insurance
00:23:15 to ensure that the boat is seaworthy.
00:23:19 And that to me is where the non-commitment is
00:23:24 because it means that we are not getting the full story.
00:23:27 You are getting part of the story.
00:23:30 And this is what has been happening for the last two weeks
00:23:33 where persons like myself kept very quiet,
00:23:36 sat and waited for a couple of days,
00:23:38 okay, a fire on the boat,
00:23:39 and then was told that it wasn't so bad,
00:23:42 it was less than they thought.
00:23:43 Yet two weeks have passed and we can't get a cable.
00:23:47 Two weeks have passed and we are still in question mark zone
00:23:52 where you don't know what is going on properly
00:23:55 to make proper plans.
00:23:57 So based on what they're saying,
00:24:00 the very persons who made the announcement said
00:24:03 the capacity of the ferry is one 10th of the Cabo Star.
00:24:08 Yet they're saying they're bringing relief.
00:24:10 And the key that most people would not have picked up,
00:24:13 why are they giving preference to hardwares for that vessel?
00:24:18 Because they didn't carry anything
00:24:21 for the hardwares for two weeks?
00:24:23 Or is it that the vessel is not made to carry the trucks
00:24:28 as we deem it for foodstuff and so,
00:24:32 because of all the risk I just spoke about,
00:24:34 the exposure, the risk of that flat base boat,
00:24:37 which is 3.something meters going across our Bocas,
00:24:41 and the risk involved.
00:24:43 Is it that?
00:24:44 What it is are they really telling us?
00:24:46 - Well, Alexander said the vessel, a landing craft,
00:24:48 as you said earlier, is about one 10th the capacity
00:24:51 of the Cabo Star and will focus initially
00:24:53 on transporting construction material between the islands.
00:24:57 In the meantime, we continue the movement
00:24:59 of the perishables, food and pharmaceuticals
00:25:02 on the fast ferries, the MV Galleons Passage,
00:25:06 the Buco Reef and the APT James.
00:25:10 And that's quoting Mr. Alexander from yesterday.
00:25:13 That has not been quite the case.
00:25:15 What has been happening is we actually don't know
00:25:19 which vessel you can get a truck on properly
00:25:22 and what time it's sailing.
00:25:23 For instance, they spoke about room on the vessel
00:25:26 on Wednesday.
00:25:28 Wednesday, we don't normally have the vessels,
00:25:31 APT James or Buco Reef.
00:25:33 It's only the Galleons Passage.
00:25:34 It comes off in order for the servicing.
00:25:39 Wednesday, they put on the vessel, but nobody knew.
00:25:42 So only the people who were down by the port standing up,
00:25:45 I guess, being treated like animals and cattle wait,
00:25:49 they would have been able to get on.
00:25:50 So if people don't know that the vessel is sailing,
00:25:53 now they want to boast that the vessel came with space
00:25:56 so they don't have a problem.
00:25:57 Serious?
00:25:58 It is so far from the truth that we don't have a problem.

00:26:35 I am now of the firm belief that it serves the purpose
00:26:40 that it is intended for,
00:26:43 which is to carry on what we continue to call corruption
00:26:47 in this country,
00:26:48 because there are reports, Marlon,
00:26:50 of people now back to the days of taking bribe on the port
00:26:54 to get vehicles on.
00:26:55 It's sad.
00:26:56 It's sounding very terrible from what I'm hearing.

00:27:09 right through bridge mans
00:27:11 was supposed to be a temporary relief
00:27:13 when they had the fiasco.
00:27:16 However, six years later,

00:41:23 Marlon, we have a party in power for almost 50,
00:41:26 for 50 years, as opposed to one,

00:56:33 Of course, we have seen, how do I say?

00:56:52 So is this concept of climate change now being accepted
00:56:56 and is being seen as real?
00:56:57 - It's a good question.
00:57:00 We are coming from an oil and gas economy,
00:57:04 which traditionally is taking the blame for climate change,
00:57:09 although it's much more than that.
00:57:11 So I think that we were very slow to appreciate

01:00:04 We have the institutional arrangements
01:00:08 starting with the United Nations Framework Convention
01:00:11 for Climate Change and the Paris Agreement.
01:00:14 Then we have local issues, local legislation
01:00:17 and registration and who are the main players

01:00:22 And then we have the practical aspects of energy, water,
01:00:27 food production, transportation.
01:00:31 And we bring our questions in all of these areas.
01:00:35 So they are the thematic areas as well.

01:00:42 of individuals from all walks of life in the country
01:00:47 that are helping to guide the content
01:00:50 and the approach for season three.
01:00:52 - Yeah, and judging from what you have seen
01:00:56 or the education that students have gotten,
01:01:00 do you see a sort of a change, a transformation
01:01:04 in their thinking as it relates to climate change?
01:01:07 - Absolutely.
01:01:09 Before we started season one of the quiz in 2018,
01:01:13 we ran a national survey to understand
01:01:16 how much students know about climate change.
01:01:19 So we knew only 11% of our student population
01:01:23 knew that there was something called the Paris Agreement
01:01:26 and only 9% of them understood that Trinidad
01:01:30 and Tobago was a signatory.
01:01:32 And after we finished season one, we ran that survey again
01:01:35 and we knew that now more than 20% of students
01:01:39 knew more about the Paris Agreement.
01:01:42 And we are going to do the survey again
01:01:44 so we know where the level of knowledge is
01:01:47 so that we direct these interventions to fill the gaps.

01:03:28 These students became teachers

01:43:23 to see who will progress from that match tomorrow to face the Barbados Royals.
01:43:27 Look at them, sky high at the top of the standings, waiting for the finalist.
01:43:32 And the Chumbago Knight Riders match and the Ghana Amazon Warriors match
01:43:35 will decide exactly who will progress to meet the Barbados Royals.
01:43:39 Both teams, of course, on the same points.
01:43:41 Run rate is mucho importante.
01:43:44 But more than that, a win, muy importante.
01:43:47 My Spanish has been corrected there.
01:43:49 I'm sure my Spanish teacher, if she's listening right now, might be a tad disappointing.
01:43:52 Or disappointed, rather, in my linguistic skills when it comes to the opposite language.
01:43:58 All right, I tell you what, we also had a time to chat with D'Andrea Dutton,
01:44:02 who looks ahead to that big match.
01:44:05 You've got a big showdown now this Saturday.
01:44:08 I bet you're looking forward to that.
01:44:09 I definitely am. I have a lot of confidence in my team.
01:44:12 You know what I mean?
01:44:13 All we've got to do is continue to do what we're doing.
01:44:16 Short and sweet, she's looking forward, fine and dandy.
01:44:20 I'm looking forward to chatting with a winner.
01:44:22 And I tell you what, this guy is really excited.
01:44:24 Of course, he was part of our TV6 app promotion,
01:44:27 where winners got a chance to win a trip to Guyana for the Grand Finals,
01:44:32 where they will be looking at the CPL Finals live.
01:44:35 And to this morning with us, we've got Tarell Samuel.
01:44:38 Good morning to you, Tarell.
01:44:40 You seem very, very excited about winning.
01:44:43 What were you doing when you heard the announcement that you won?
01:44:46 And what was your feeling like?
01:44:49 Well, pleasant morning, James.
01:44:50 Pleasant morning to all viewers of TV6 and Trinidad and Tobago by extension.
01:44:54 I was actually watching, looking at the draw.
01:44:58 When I heard that I won, I was exhilarated, jubilant, joyful.
01:45:03 I could not contain my joy whatsoever.
01:45:06 I really wanted to win this prize.
01:45:09 Yeah.
01:45:10 I really, really wanted to win.
01:45:11 I prayed a lot.
01:45:12 I prayed a lot.
01:45:13 And I was totally overjoyed.
01:45:15 My mom, after trying to contain me, I was crying.
01:45:20 I was happy.
01:45:21 I started to run like Imran Tahir.
01:45:23 Imran Tahir.
01:45:24 Well, that is very exciting.
01:45:26 And of course, we'll get the chance to see him in Guyana.
01:45:29 How excited are you to head to Guyana?
01:45:31 Have you been to Guyana before?
01:45:33 Have you witnessed a cricket match here before?
01:45:35 No, I've never witnessed a cricket match outside of Trinidad and Tobago.
01:45:38 I'm very excited to see the finals in Guyana.
01:45:42 I'm expecting that TKR will play Guyana in the finals.
01:45:47 And I expect that TKR will defeat Guyana on home soil.
01:45:51 And I expect Guyana to win all their games and lose the finals, just like in 2019.
01:45:57 Well, don't say that very loud when you head across there.
01:46:00 You've been looking at the CPL.
01:46:02 I had a woman to chat with you.
01:46:04 You're very excited about the CPL.
01:46:07 What stands out for you in this edition of the CPL thus far as we come to the weekend in Trinidad?
01:46:13 Well, I would say Nicholas Perron's innings on Wednesday night stood out for me in the CPL thus far.
01:46:20 And witnessing it live was something else.
01:46:23 His innings were out of this world.
01:46:25 Especially seeing that he got a second life.
01:46:28 It was out of this world.
01:46:32 I mean, seeing that he was out of form playing for TKR,
01:46:36 I didn't expect him to score so many runs playing for TKR.
01:46:42 As stats will show, he doesn't really do well when he's playing for TKR.
01:46:46 He more does well when he's playing for Westernies and other franchises.
01:46:51 So, I'm happy to see that he's getting amongst the runs while playing for TKR as a TKR player.
01:46:58 I'm told as well that you were part of all of the action here in Trinidad.
01:47:01 What do you think of the atmosphere in Trinidad at the Queen's Park Oval so far?
01:47:05 Lots of noise. I was down in Gronk now.
01:47:07 It was so loud with the fans coming out to support.
01:47:10 What do you think about the support?
01:47:12 The support is tremendous.
01:47:14 The atmosphere is electrifying.
01:47:16 And I think it's a fitting environment for the TKR team to do well.
01:47:21 With support, anything is possible.
01:47:23 The 12th man was definitely there on Tuesday and Wednesday.
01:47:26 And I expect them to be there at the Brantley Cricket Academy on Saturday and Sunday.
01:47:31 Well, Terrell, I've got like 20 seconds remaining with you.
01:47:34 Tell me this though.
01:47:35 Everybody wants to know who's going to Guyana with you.
01:47:38 A friend of mine by the name of Wilbur Force.
01:47:44 Wilbur Force is such a lucky person.
01:47:46 I was hoping you were going to say James Saunders.
01:47:48 Thank you so much.
01:47:50 That was Terrell Samuel, our ticket winner.
01:47:53 It is time now to head to our Sunshine promotion or Sunshine moment.
01:47:57 Phil Simmons had the opportunity to be honoured by his alma mater.
01:48:02 [Music]
01:48:09 Cross College fraternity, Mr. Simmons, we'd like to present you with this symbol of our appreciation
01:48:16 for all the excellent work you have done for the college, for the country, for the West Indies, for the world.
01:48:25 First of all, totally overwhelmed by what I am seeing of my great college, Holy Cross College.
01:48:34 And as Mr. Tappan said, things have moved on and I love what I see.
01:48:40 [Music]
01:48:56 So good to see Big Phil honoured by Holy Cross College.
01:48:59 Of course, that is an arena up on the mall.
01:49:02 Don't forget, you can check out the CPL website, cplt20.com to get tickets.
01:49:07 There might still be tickets available for Sunday's matches.
01:49:10 Apart from that, well, I'm not sure there are tickets remaining in Trinidad.
01:49:14 But the CPL recently announced as well that tickets will be made available for the playoff and the finals in Guyana.
01:49:20 Go to the website, cplt20.com.
01:49:22 I'm going to take a pause and come back with more.
01:49:25 Keep it right here, Bowling Mall Cricket Show.

01:50:55 Drink responsibly.
01:50:57 We exposed five strangers to KFC's delicious chicken to see if any time could be KFC time.
01:51:05 And at the first bite, the party began.
01:51:08 We repeated the experiment during the day, during business hours, on weekends, with sunshine, with rain.
01:51:17 And it's confirmed. KFC's flavour makes any time KFC time.
01:51:23 KFC, it's fingers licking good.
01:51:26 [Sneezing]

01:51:53 And plenty of ice cold refreshment.
01:51:57 Enjoy the cricket with Angus Tour Chill, the official refreshment partner of the Republic Bank CPL T20.

01:52:10 [Music]
01:52:36 A woman at the venue was telling me I've got to move my hips a bit more to get into rhythm.
01:52:40 Still learning. Bear with me.
01:52:42 Well, just before we wrap things up and we do apologise to the fans, we're running out of time,
01:52:46 and we certainly will make a day next week perhaps where we'll get more of your views and opinions in,
01:52:52 we check out now one of the voices of the CPL, of course, coming out of Barbados.
01:52:58 Her voice has been heard around the region and she's becoming a very prominent part of the CPL franchise.
01:53:04 We speak with none other than Alex Jordan.
01:53:07 I'm old enough that when I went to secondary school I was asked to play cricket and they told me rounders for girls,
01:53:12 so you all missed out on my talent.
01:53:15 So I went about my life and I became a sort of radio announcer.
01:53:18 I had a radio show on the BBC in London.
01:53:20 I had my own morning show, the Alex Jordan morning show in Barbados.
01:53:24 And I got a call out of the blue one day from Sportsmax after they lost Alexis Nunez to ESPN.
01:53:30 They said, "Can you come and do this live sports show?"
01:53:32 And I said, "You guys know I don't do TV, nor do I do sports, right? I do radio and I do music."
01:53:38 And they said, "No, but you could do TV and you could do sports."
01:53:42 Despite being in the media, Jordan did not pursue journalism, but instead something different.
01:53:47 I think I'm a great example for people that education is about learning to learn,
01:53:52 because I did a third world politics degree with languages.
01:53:55 I speak five languages.
01:53:57 Name them.
01:53:59 French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and English.
01:54:02 All the European languages, well, Latin languages I should say.
01:54:06 But I never studied journalism, not a day,
01:54:08 but I always had a very deep voice from the time I was a little girl.
01:54:11 So when I was 17, I got a radio show in my summer holidays in Barbados.
01:54:16 So I always thought radio and stuff was going to be on the cards.
01:54:20 And then I had a great grasp of language.
01:54:23 You see, language is the thing, and that has been my angle in.
01:54:27 It's not been my cricket knowledge. I've had to learn cricket.
01:54:30 Cricket has taken me to the world.
01:54:32 So it's the first time I saw the United Arab Emirates, Dubai, Abu Dhabi.
01:54:35 It took me to New Zealand. It took me to Australia.
01:54:38 I've been around the world to watch this beautiful game and I've been so lucky.
01:54:42 But I'd have to say some of the most enjoyable moments have been right here at the CPL.
01:54:47 As Jeffrey Boycott would say, "Cricket, lovely cricket."
01:54:50 Of course, you can catch the rest of that interview tonight on the TV6 Sportscast.
01:54:53 Coming up on Saturday, that's tomorrow by the way,
01:54:55 the Patriots take on the Kings, a crucial match.
01:54:58 So the Kings will be looking to leapfrog both TKR and Guyon Amazon Warriors.
01:55:02 Then the Massey CPL semi-final, so to speak, between the Amazon Warriors and the Chumbago Knight Riders.
01:55:08 The winner advances to the finals.
01:55:10 And then, of course, the party goes into overdrive from 8pm or 7.30pm, but coverage starts.
01:55:16 Chumbago Knight Riders versus the Talawans, Soka versus Reggie and Dan.
01:55:22 That is all that we've got time for.
01:55:25 It is a Friday. Please do enjoy the day today.
01:55:27 Enjoy your day off because we're going to overdrive tomorrow as the party starts with the Republic Bank CPL.
01:55:33 Have a safe weekend. Thank you for staying with us.
01:55:35 And as always, remember, catch you later.
