00:00 The moment when you're standing there
00:01 and you're celebrating the Super Bowl championship
00:04 that these teams work so hard for,
00:05 the players, the coaches,
00:07 and you're up there and you're holding
00:08 that Benson Body Trophy,
00:09 and you're about to give it to the winning team.
00:12 That's a moment that you have to pinch yourself and say,
00:16 "How did I ever get this blessed?"
00:18 Hi, I'm Roger Goodell.
00:19 I'm here with "The Hollywood Reporter."
00:21 The last time I saw a movie I couldn't stop talking about
00:26 was "Coda," which I thought was a terrific film.
00:29 It just had one of those moments at the end of the film,
00:32 which I always loved, which is triumph.
00:34 That was triumph all the way.
00:36 And I think those are the most inspirational
00:39 and the most fun for me.
00:40 It wouldn't be the last time I got good advice
00:43 'cause I get lots of good advice.
00:45 And it comes from all corners.
00:47 And I appreciate it and it's helpful.
00:49 And I think people need to get good advice.
00:52 But the number one advice is from my dad
00:55 back when I just graduated from college.
00:58 And it was really more of a believe in yourself,
01:02 do the right thing.
01:03 He lived his life and he had examples of that,
01:06 the way he lived his life and actually took chances
01:10 that he knew were gonna have negative consequences,
01:13 but he believed in it.
01:14 And he felt that this was what he needed to do.
01:18 And I've always lived by that,
01:19 is that even if something has a negative consequence,
01:23 if it's the right thing, do it.
01:25 Last time I gave good advice?
01:27 Well, I don't know if it was good advice,
01:29 but I met with our interns just last week.
01:32 And as a group, they were young, ambitious,
01:37 very curious about the business.
01:39 And one of the issues that I raised with them is,
01:42 sometimes success can be a barrier to further success
01:46 because you get complacent.
01:47 Sometimes you don't take the chances
01:49 that you need to take in life.
01:51 And so for me, I shared that with them
01:53 and I got several notes from interns that said
01:55 that was really something they hadn't thought about.
01:58 So I don't know if it was inspirational or good advice,
02:00 but it's something they hopefully took away from that.
02:03 Well, that would be easy 'cause the last NFL game
02:06 that had me on the edge of the seat was the Super Bowl,
02:08 'cause it's the last game we had
02:10 and it was a fantastic game.
02:12 The game that maybe got me most inspired last season
02:17 was the Buffalo Patriots game.
02:19 And it was the week after DeMar Hamlin
02:22 tragically collapsed on our field,
02:25 but triumphantly got back up and came out of the hospital
02:28 before this game, five days later, six days later.
02:32 And the first kickoff was returned by the Buffalo Bills,
02:36 95 yards for a touchdown.
02:38 That stadium exploded.
02:40 It was a sense of joy, celebration.
02:44 And being in that stadium was something
02:47 I'll never forget that day.
02:48 Biggest pinch me moment for me every year actually
02:53 is giving away the Super Bowl trophy.
02:55 The moment when you're standing there
02:57 and you're celebrating the Super Bowl championship
02:59 that these teams worked so hard for,
03:02 the players, the coaches, everybody in the franchise,
03:05 the fans are celebrating, and you're up there
03:07 and you're holding that Benson Body trophy
03:09 and you're about to give it to the winning team.
03:13 That's a moment that you have to pinch yourself and say,
03:17 how did I ever get this blessed?
03:18 For someone who loved football
03:19 from almost as early as I can remember,
03:22 to have that privilege is really extraordinary.
03:28 I'm Roger Goodell, and thank you for watching.
03:30 It was a cool experience for me, so thank you.
03:32 I hope you enjoyed it.
