00:03 - Can I make the argument here?
00:04 Because, and I do want to remind people that this,
00:08 if Harden wanted to go to the Clippers,
00:10 like he has continually said,
00:12 that was where he wanted to be traded to, right?
00:15 Even though, coach, he opted into the $35.6 million option.
00:20 If he doesn't opt in, it's a very simple path
00:27 for him to go from Philadelphia to the Clippers.
00:30 And you don't have to worry about Darryl Murray
00:33 or anybody else, but instead he took the money
00:37 and then realized, well, maybe my value isn't exactly
00:40 what I thought it was on the open market.
00:43 And now by signing the contract,
00:46 he obligated himself that if they don't want to trade him,
00:49 guess what?
00:50 You better show up to camp here in a couple of weeks.
00:54 He says the relationship is beyond repair.
00:57 Could this be the moment in time where we look back
01:00 and say, finally, owners and GMs are starting
01:04 to take back a little bit of the acquiescing
01:07 to these superstar players?
01:09 Could this Harden be the example where now
01:12 we're starting to see, you know, Murray, GMs
01:15 and other owners go and slow down, guy.
01:17 You're seeing it with Lillard.
01:19 We're seeing it with Harden now.
01:21 Could this be the moment in time, coach,
01:23 where they take back a little bit of control?
01:25 - They're certainly trying to, Joe.
01:28 And I don't blame the owners for trying to do it,
01:30 but I don't know because at the end of the day,
01:34 if Harden, listen, one of three things are gonna happen.
01:37 Okay?
01:38 Number one, Harden shows up, Kumbaya plays out his deal.
01:41 Number two, he doesn't show up and gets fired.
01:46 Number three, he shows up and he's such a pain
01:50 and you know what, that Darryl Murray says,
01:53 "Man, take your behind on home."
01:55 And I think that's what Harden's gonna try and do.
01:58 I think he's gonna come in and he is gonna be such
02:02 a pain in the neck just so they could try to move him.
02:07 But here's the thing, and Joe,
02:08 I think people need to understand this.
02:10 James Harden did not have value on the open market
02:16 except for one team.
02:20 It was Houston.
02:22 If you remember folks, last year,
02:24 he talked about wanting to go back to Houston,
02:26 wanting to go back to Houston.
02:27 Why?
02:28 Great career there, still has a home down there.
02:32 No state income tax down there.
