00:00But the Kansas City Chiefs brought in Justin Fields to be his backup quarterback.
00:08And I know one person who very often, not sarcastically, has labeled Justin Fields a winner.
00:19And last year, they didn't win games in Kansas City.
00:23So, Joe, could it be Justin Fields' chance here with Andy Reid and the Chiefs?
00:31Well, to elevate maybe his play with above-average talent, it's possible.
00:37I was wrong on my assessment about Justin Fields with the Jets.
00:41But, you know, a losing organization drags down even the best of talent.
00:45You know, talking about an organization that hasn't won a championship since 1969, let's be real.
00:52But that being said, I still think that Justin Fields could be an asset, especially if Pat Mahomes isn't ready.
00:59Week number one, he is a dual threat.
01:01With the addition of Kenneth Walker and the rushing attack, you add Justin Fields' running ability into that scheme, there's
01:09the potential for them to be dangerous.
01:11And we know about their defense.
01:13They're still good and still elite.
01:15And at the end of the day, if they have to win games in the early part of September, I
01:20think Justin Fields could do that with them.
01:22They have talent on the outside.
01:24It's not like he has garbage talent and a head coach that potentially doesn't want to open it up.
01:30Now we'll see how they utilize him.
01:32But he could be a good fit in that system as a backup until Pat Mahomes gets ready.
01:38Now, what if Mahomes, in that timeline, you know, takes a little bit longer?
01:45Maybe he misses the first four weeks of the season.
01:49Justin Fields, I mean, the guy's a winner.
01:53What if he's 4-0?
01:55What if he's 4-0?
01:57Do you tell him that?
01:58What do you mean?
02:00No, see, the situation that Justin Fields was a winner, okay, was that he was a winner at Ohio State.
02:09He was a winner prior to moving to the Jets.
02:13He was 4-2 as a starter.
02:15And in my opinion, should have never have lost his job to Russell Wilson.
02:20I'm sorry.
02:20He just shouldn't have done it.
02:22Now, when you look at that situation and you look at what he was able to do, if called upon
02:29with the Kansas City Chiefs, where they need to be at, let's say, at least 2-2 or 3-1,
02:35I think Justin Fields can do that with the talent that's around them.
02:40You know, we talked about the weaknesses of Kansas City offensively at the end of last year.
02:46We talked about how bad of a play caller Matt Nagy slash Indy Reed were as a combined duo last
02:52year, afraid to take the governor off the offense and utilize the speed on the perimeter.
02:59Well, now with an elite running back and a mobile quarterback, you should be able to mix and match accordingly
03:06to win football games.
03:08And that's all it comes down to.
03:10Does Justin Fields give them an ability to win games in the AFC West if called upon for an extended
03:18period of time?
03:19And the answer is yes.
03:23Yeah.
03:24No, listen.
03:26Pittsburgh, he was 4-2, and the whole Chicago thing never happened.
03:31He was not 10-28 as a starter in Chicago.
03:34Wait a second.
03:35Well, the 10-28 with Chicago, okay, was there were glimpses of greatness with over 200-yard games, the Monday
03:46night game against Washington.
03:48200 yards?
03:50Close to 300.
03:51Just wait in the four-touchdown performance against Denver when he was a member of Chicago, okay, two years ago.
04:00The bottom line is, in the early part of his career, Kevin, with Eberflus, they never utilized the talent around
04:07him.
04:07He had garbage wide receivers.
04:09They never used or utilized his RPO ability.
04:12I mean, when we look at the 10-28, yes, he was a sub-500 quarterback, but a part of
04:19that was how bad of a head coach Matt Eberflus and that offensive staff were.
04:24And they crippled him and basically ruined his career before he even got started.
04:31He had a two-week stretch where he threw eight touchdowns.
04:35That was more than his rookie season.
04:38He didn't do that.
04:39I guess he didn't do that.
04:40No, he did do it.
04:42Oh, okay.
04:42And you've decided, here's the relevant sample size on fields is Ohio State, those two weeks, and the record in
04:52Pittsburgh.
04:52And you have pushed aside all of the other football that has been absolutely atrocious.
05:00And I find it fascinating that Kansas City, who we often expect to try and compete at a high level,
05:09could be without their franchise quarterback to start the season and have looked at Justin Fields.
05:16That they have opted for perhaps a project backup instead of something that they could reliably trust.
05:25It is another move that tells me Kansas City is not all in on next season, despite the fact that
05:32that is what people...
