00:00Take me through, Joe, a little bit of your initial reaction to this story when we found out that the
00:08Ravens had backed out of the trade.
00:11Well, it was a tumultuous couple of days, right?
00:14For Baltimore, it looked like they upgraded the defensive front, and it looked like they got considerably better, especially against
00:22the run and getting after the quarterback with the addition of Max Crosby.
00:25And for the Las Vegas Raiders, Kev, they allowed themselves more capability to potentially build on the defensive side of
00:33the ball and add new pieces potentially offensively with a new head coach.
00:37And then everything just fell apart.
00:40And now here we are for Las Vegas.
00:42Is Max Crosby even going to be motivated to go back to this team?
00:47Remember what happened and transpired at the end of the regular season where they put him on IR.
00:52He clearly wasn't happy, and now they have a situation where they have to decide, can he help our team,
00:58or can we ship him to another potential contender?
01:02Because he doesn't want to be on a sub-500 team just earning a paycheck.
01:06So we'll see how this plays out.
01:08But for Baltimore now to get Trey Hendrickson, a player that isn't coming off a significant injury, a player that
01:15can definitely upgrade the front seven,
01:17it helps them now challenge the likes of Pittsburgh and Cincinnati in the division to get better and potentially challenge
01:25for an AFC championship.
01:28So I find this to be all, it's very complicated, right, Joe?
01:33And you're not wrong to kind of start to break down how it shapes these rosters.
01:37But I cannot get over what I think is at the moment a consensus opinion that the Ravens use the
01:47Crosby injury as an excuse to cancel a trade
01:52when they found out that acquiring Trey Hendrickson was on the board.
01:57And there was a lot of positive reactions for Vegas, Joe.
02:02When they made the deal, people were impressed that they not just netted two first-round picks,
02:08but one of those was in the top 15 this year.
02:10So it wasn't a situation where Baltimore was hearing, right, oh, wow, great job by you, great job by you,
02:16fleeced Vegas, right?
02:18So to find out that you can go back on that deal, get all the draft picks back,
02:23and bring in a sought-after pass rusher, I think that's what Baltimore did.
02:31And they better hit on these draft picks because Hendrickson is not as good as Max Crosby, flatly.
02:38I think there's a legitimate gap between those guys.
02:41It doesn't mean Hendrickson is not good, but there's a gap.
02:44I think Crosby is one of the four or five best edge rushers in football.
02:48We know what he can do against the run.
02:51But I think the thing that kind of hangs over it, Joe, is if what I believe is true,
02:59I don't know if you think it's nonsense or not, is how this impacts Baltimore going forward.
03:05Some people think, oh, this won't stick with the Ravens.
03:08This is a—teams will get over it.
03:10But to back out of a deal of this magnitude, I think that the Baltimore Ravens will have to fire
03:21their general manager
03:22if they don't win a Super Bowl within the next two years because I do not think teams will pick
03:27up the phone with Baltimore.
03:29I think people will now be so turned off by what they did.
03:33We can't act like the Trey Hendrickson stuff was a coincidence.
03:37The reporting that they canceled the Crosby deal, five minutes later, we heard they were going to be in on
03:44Trey Hendrickson, Joe.
03:46So I think the Ravens played a dirty game here, and I think it's going to put a bit of
03:51a target on this group.
