00:00 I really like the concept of responsible tourism that Outlook is promoting and the government
00:07 of Meghalaya is also promoting because at the end of the day we hope to generate revenue
00:16 out of tourism.
00:17 We hope to showcase our culture, showcase the beauty of Meghalaya through tourism.
00:24 But at the same time, sometimes if tourism is not responsible, if people who come as
00:31 tourists come to our state and it is not done so in a responsible manner, then we will have
00:39 more to lose than more to gain.
00:41 So the concept of responsible and sustainable tourism is something that really, you know,
00:48 it really clicks with what I believe is the right way forward for our state.
00:56 Tourism is one of the most important ways that our economy can grow and our Honorable
01:03 Chief Minister has taken the, you know, the initiatives to really promote tourism.
01:10 And sometimes when I look at, when I look at how tourism is really being promoted in
01:16 our state and how people are now beginning to know about places in our own state of Meghalaya,
01:22 I always wonder why, you know, it wasn't done so previously, why previous governments
01:28 did not engage or did not see tourism as an opportunity for development.
01:34 And today when I see that the work that's being done by the tourism department, by our
01:40 Honorable Chief Minister and by all the local stakeholders, I feel that it is one of the
01:47 best things that can have happened to our state.
01:50 When he talks about the vision about tourism, Mr. Cyril Lindor has very, very elaborately
01:58 spoken about the government's ideas, the reason behind promoting tourism.
02:03 So I don't feel the need to go into that because we all know that this is one of the
02:08 one of the best areas for each one of us.
