00:00 Thanks to one of his famous lines in Indiana Jones, Harrison Ford has long been linked
00:09 to snakes.
00:10 And now that link will be official.
00:12 A group of researchers discovered a new type of snake in Peru and actually named the species
00:17 after the actor.
00:19 The species is described as a type of camouflaged slender snake that is pale yellowish-brown
00:24 with scattered black blotches and measures 16 inches long.
00:28 For researchers, they named the snake after Ford to honor his decades-long environmental
00:33 advocacy.
00:34 But this isn't the first time the actor's name has been linked to a species.
00:38 Ford also inspired the name of an ant and a spider.
00:42 The actor said, "These scientists keep naming critters after me, but it's always the ones
00:46 that terrify children.
00:47 I don't understand.
00:48 I spend my free time cross-stitching.
00:50 I sing lullabies to my basil plants so they don't fear the night."
00:54 In all seriousness, this discovery is humbling.
00:56 It's a reminder that there's still so much to learn about our wild world.
