Yesterday, Mexico marked "5 de Mayo", a holiday that commemorates the country's victory over French occupation forces 153 years ago. The French were defeated at the Battle of Puebla in the southern Mexican state of the same name, where it is a major festivity. The holiday is also celebrated in other countries, especially in Mexican-American communities in the United States. teleSUR
