"Lives" offers a window on the Latin American continent, as seen through the eyes of people, either well known or ordinary individuals, who provide the viewer with an insight into the essence of the region. Today's program continues last week's examination of the life of Ruben Dario (1867-1916), the famous Nicaraguan poet, journalist, diplomat and patriot. We start with a look at Dario's beliefs, writings, and activities on a political level at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century as a proponent of liberal and progressive ideas and conclude with appreciations offered by intellectuals of his lasting contributions to Spanish-language and Latin American literature. teleSUR
