Winter is rutting season for camels. While the Anatolian highlands are covered in snow, the Aegean coastline further west becomes home to temporary arenas where male camels clash. An ancient Anatolian sport, camel wrestling now only takes place further west, on the Aegean coast. For men who own little more than a camel, the season is the highlight of the year.
