00:01A juvenile bride's whale that had been rescued and guided back to deeper waters off Tanjung
00:07Aru Beach three days earlier was found dead along the same beach on Saturday.
00:13Sabah Wildlife Department Director Mohamed Sofyan Abu Bakar said the 3.23-metre whale
00:20was first spotted stranded in shallow waters on Friday and successfully herded out to sea,
00:26but later reappeared near Kota Kinabalu's shoreline close to Sutra Harbour Marina.
00:31He said the repeated stranding suggested the animal was suffering from fatigue or injury.
00:37It was later confirmed dead after washing up at Beach Three near a resort.
00:42A team arrived at about 3.30pm to cordon off the area and collect biological samples,
00:49which have been sent to the Lok Kawi Wildlife Park Clinic for a necropsy to determine the cause of death.
00:55Mohamed Sofyan said authorities are investigating whether the whale died from natural causes,
01:01such as separation from its mother or human-related factors.
01:06The findings will be submitted to the Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry once the report is completed.
