Sunday, December 21, marked 64 years since the birth of Thomas Sankara, African revolutionary leader also remembered as Africa's "Che" Guevara. He seized power in Upper Volta and led the revolutionary process of the country that came to be Burkina Faso. Also, he promoted agricultural self-sufficiency, education and public health, among other achievements. He was assassinated on October 15, 1987, during a coup d'état. teleSUR
