Brazils's 142 million registered voters head to the polls today, ending what has been an unprecedentedly intense campaign. The main issues raised and debated by the candidates were the economy, the cost of living, and public services. There is little doubt who will win today's vote, as incumbent Dilma Rousseff of the Workers' Party has consistently headed all the polls. If no candidate receives 50% of the vote, which is likely, a second round of voting will be held on October 26. Recent polls show that the race for second place is tightening, and last night Aecio Neves of the Brazilian Social Democracy Party edged out Marina Silva of the Brazilian Socialist Party. Also up for grabs are the seats in the Senate, Chamber of Deputies, state legislatures, and gubernatorial races. Stephanie Kennedy has the latest from Brazil. teleSUR
