00:00I heard of the Bills game yesterday for the first time.
00:01It occurred to me yesterday after the show, like, I was at the game and I watched the
00:07game because I was there.
00:09As you probably should.
00:10I was in a booth, in a radio booth watching the game.
00:14I did not go back.
00:16And when I watch the game on television, it's always twice.
00:19Like, always.
00:20I watch it live and I watch it again once I'm done with.
00:23So it's Bills game.
00:25If there's a one o'clock Bills game, it's Bills game.
00:27And then everything else that's happening in football, and then either after the night
00:32game or when I get sick of the night game, it's back to Bills game and watch that.
00:38And I just re-watched most of the first half yesterday, but it took me nearly a week to
00:46re-watch it.
00:47And, like, we haven't even been talking about Russo is the reason that Lamar Jackson is
00:55out and is the reason that we watched Feniano yesterday because Russo did that on the first
01:01play of the game.
01:02And I kind of just, it just kind of went away.
01:04Like, he was hurt.
01:05And I was working, like, trying to notify the radio guy that I'm sitting next to who I'm
01:10trying to give info to.
01:11I was like, oh, and there goes Lamar Jackson heading for the blue tent.
01:14And I also was watching as the blue tent popped up.
01:18He hits his hand.
01:20Russo hits him.
01:21Somebody else gets in on him, too, at the end.
01:23Maybe Bishop.
01:24It was Bernard.
01:25Oh, Bernard.
01:25Okay.
01:26Okay.
01:26So he gets hit, but it was the Russo hit that did it.
01:30And he's heading to the sideline, and they're popping up the tent because the tent's not
01:34always there.
01:35They pop it up.
01:36Yeah, yeah.
01:36And the play-by-play guy, Josh Appel, who's awesome, is like, and there goes Jackson into
01:43the tent.
01:44And I had to, like, hit him on the arm like this.
01:46Oh, like, bang, bang, bang.
01:47Yeah.
01:47Like, mm-mm, he's gone, because they waved off the tent.
01:51They're holding his arm again.
01:52But I forgot that it was Russo that did that.
01:54So for a guy who was a massive point of conversation the first month of the season, and then kind
01:59of hasn't been, he did, I won't say win the game for them, but he kind of ended the game
02:06after the first play.
02:07Sal Capaccio's here.
02:08Sal, that game was over after one play.
02:10I know I'm talking about a game that's almost a week old.
02:12But just re-watching it, I kind of forgot that that was Russo having an impact again.
02:20Yeah, and Bernard blitzed, as Owen brought it up, and I think the game plan was to be
02:28aggressive, even with Lamar in there.
02:30And the reason I say that is I asked Jim Leonard the next day about that.
02:36Like, hey, were you guys going to go after him?
02:37And without saying, like, oh yeah, the game plan is going to be aggressive, he basically
02:41said, you know, one of the worst things you can do is let Lamar get off his first read.
02:46What he's saying there is, once he's off his first read, he might run.
02:48So let's be aggressive, make him throw the ball earlier to his first read.
02:53And when that happened, the first play of the game, from our vantage point, I didn't know
02:58either, because until literally, Brennan McDaniels, who is the press box announcer, so you guys,
03:04when you're in the stadium as a fan, just so you know, there's a PA announcer.
03:07Tells you what happened, you know, and says, hey, you know, third down and five.
03:11Hold on, hold on.
03:12The guy in the stand says, third down.
03:16Brennan does not do that.
03:17Brennan doesn't do that.
03:18Brennan talks to you like you're a person.
03:20But Brennan, because he's talking in a press box setting to people covering the game, and
03:26he, all of a sudden I hear him say, Tyler Huntley now in the game at quarterback.
03:31And I'm like, what?
03:32I didn't know either.
03:32Like, we didn't know as watching.
03:34I didn't see that happen.
03:34I'm watching the results of the play.
03:36So he goes out.
03:36Anyway, yes, you're right.
03:37Greg Rousseau had a big part in that, obviously, because his length, he caused that to happen.
03:43You know, there are some really incredible, I've seen some photos, you know, you go in
03:47the, we use Getty Images, you know, for our Odyssey sites and things like that.
03:50And I'm going through some of the images from the game.
03:52And then I saw some other images that other people put out.
03:54And like, you can see right when his hand hits Lamar and hits Greg Rousseau's wrist,
04:00I guess, or his hand like in that area.
04:02And it's interesting, right?
04:03So yeah, that did happen.
04:04And that was a big part of, you know, last night and why they were in the situation they
04:09were in, obviously.
04:10They were creative and interesting last night.
04:11I liked how they came out.
04:13I liked the, you know, Wildcat stuff and Finiano split wide and Henry getting direct snaps.
04:18And ultimately it didn't work, but I really appreciated just from, as a fan of sports, I appreciated
04:25what they did in a short week to convert their offense to an entirely different thing.
04:30And I know it didn't work and I know the Jags win the game and kind of in a blowout,
04:34but I thought it was very cool to see what they were able to do or what they tried to
04:40do anyway.
04:41It was, it was impressive and cool and made me like sports more.
04:44Like just seeing like, Oh, the Ravens are playing and they're just, it's an entirely
04:49different team than the team that we saw on Sunday.
04:52I give them credit for trying to think out of the box.
04:54There's no doubt.
04:55Like they had to do something.
04:57It totally reminded me of 2018 when Josh Allen went out and the bills did the exact same
05:01thing on Monday night football when Derek Anderson was the quarterback and they put
05:05LaShawn McCoy and Wildcat and the first few plays like, Ooh, this is cool.
05:09He actually ran for a few yards.
05:10I am not kidding you guys.
05:11As soon as that happened, I'm like, yeah, that's cool.
05:14It's not going to last.
05:15Like how long can you do that?
05:17It's going to go for a series.
05:19And then the Jags are like, okay, how do we play this?
05:22And that's exactly what happened.
05:23So you're right.
05:24I give them credit for thinking out of the box, but they, that was totally not sustainable.
05:28Yeah.
05:28Yeah.
05:28They, they, they, I was the same way.
05:31Like, Ooh, this is going to be fun.
05:32And then half a second later I went.
05:34Yeah.
05:34And then a defensive coordinator is going to turn his brain on and go, Oh, I should probably
05:38pay attention.
05:39Like he's not throwing the ball, right?
05:41Like, come on.
05:41Like Derrick Henry's behind center.
05:43He's not throwing the ball.
05:43Right.
05:44And he's also not handing it to Fagnano, despite him being in motion.
05:48Like all of it is fake, but I, I don't know.
05:50I appreciated it.
05:51I liked it.
05:52And also just my experience with it was I watched the start of the game and then I walked into
05:58a place where nobody had seen the game.
06:00So I'm explaining what's happening.
06:02I'm like, it's actually kind of interesting because everyone's planning on the Jaguars crushing
06:06the Ravens.
06:07I was like, well, the Ravens are playing a different sport than they played on Sunday.
06:10So maybe there's something, it turns out there was nothing.
06:13And, but I, I don't know.
06:14I liked it.
06:15I appreciated it.
06:17Um, Sal, how are you?
06:18Sal is on the West, her hotline, by the way.
06:20How are things?
06:21I'm good.
06:21And I say anchovies.
06:23Oh, and show the way that I said it the first time.
06:26Yeah.
06:26I say the way you say it.
06:27I say the way you say it.
06:29Yeah.
06:30Anchovies.
06:31Oh, you're the other way.
06:33Anchovies.
06:33Wait, wait, wait.
06:34Anchovies.
06:35No, now you, now you're on the team.
06:36Now I got you.
06:37It's, is the accent on the first or second syllable is the question.
06:40Ooh, I guess I've said it both ways now because I could say it that way and it sounds fine.
06:42Yeah.
06:43I feel the same way.
06:44I don't know.
06:45I don't, uh, I've never ordered them.
06:47I've never, not once in my life have I been like, you know what I need today?
06:50No, no, no.
06:52Anchovies.
06:52I don't, I don't like, I don't like them all the way they smell.
06:54I believe my stepdad likes them though.
06:55I don't even think I hate them.
06:56We don't get it when we're around and they can have a pizza together, but yeah.
06:59Never crossed my mind to do it.
07:01I think I'm going to do it.
07:01The next time I get a pizza.
07:03Good for you.
07:03I got, I got to drop like 20 more pounds before I can have pizza again.
07:07Sure.
07:07Right.
07:07So I'm doing this Awaken 180 thing and it's awesome.
07:10From what I hear, you're doing great with it.
07:11I am.
07:11No, it's going great.
07:12But the only thing that I, like I miss pizza is the only real issue.
07:17And that's just not, not on my, uh, on my menu right now.
07:20Um, but I'll, I'll be fine.
07:22And when I do, when I'm back on the pizza train, anchovies are going to be, or anchovies
07:27or whatever, however you people do it.
07:29Uh, I'm going to try it.
07:31I'm going to try it.
07:31I got, I've got three sons.
07:34One is a no possible way.
07:37He'll try it.
07:38Right.
07:38One is game for anything.
07:40And I'm not sure about the oldest, but I bet I can.
07:42We'll do it.
07:43We'll do like anchovies on half.
07:45There you go.
07:45Okay.
07:46Good idea.
07:46All right, Sal.
07:47Good luck.
07:47Let's get to the, uh, injury report brought to you by the Barnes firm.
07:51Call the Barnes firm.
07:52If you've been injured in a crash, 1-800-8 million.
07:55Uh, how, how bad is this, Sal?
07:58It's really long, but I don't, there's also a day early and kind of not what we expect
08:05on a Friday.
08:05So like, what, what, what do you got?
08:07Do you guys want, I would never say good news, but do you want the bad news?
08:12Give me the worst part.
08:13Or the encouraging news.
08:14We'll do it, Paul.
08:14We gotta do it, right?
08:15Worst part first.
08:15Bad news or good news.
08:16Worst part first.
08:18Worst part first is there's 18 players listed on the injury report.
08:21I mean, that's a lot.
08:22That is a lot.
08:23That's 18 players listed on the injury report.
08:25And some notable names.
08:26I mean, no doubt about it.
08:28Here's the encouraging news.
08:29Okay.
08:29And look, we are an hour and a half from practice starting again today.
08:32So we're going to get an update to this.
08:34But as of yesterday, as you point out, the encouraging news would be number one.
08:38It's the first day of the week.
08:39It's Thursday.
08:40Normally it's a Wednesday, but it's a Thursday this week.
08:42But the other part guys is out of the 18 names, only five of them did not practice.
08:47And out of the five that not practice one was because he was sick.
08:50That's Ty Johnson.
08:51So really only four players did not practice due to injury, which is still a four players not
08:56practicing due to injury, you know, you don't want to see that, but it is the first day
08:59of the week and we'll see where that goes.
09:01The other encouraging news is out of the 18, two of them aren't even on the roster right
09:06now.
09:06One's Tyrell Shavers and one is Jordan Hancock who are just practicing.
09:10So they have to be listed.
09:11So really it's down to 16 right there.
09:13And then I think the main encouraging news is one, two, three, four, five, six, seven,
09:19eight out of the 18 were full participants in practice, right?
09:23So it is not nearly as dire as just looking at the numbers and the, the names and the
09:29length and all of that.
09:30I think, you know, the other part is guys who are limited, I think actually encouraging,
09:35meaning like DJ Moore was there, he was out there.
09:37And you know, what's really interesting about DJ Moore, nothing with the knee listed DJ
09:42Moore, it says next to his name, it's shoulder.
09:45Yeah.
09:46You know, and because you remember what happened at the game the other day, right?
09:49You're like, oh, limping off the field.
09:50Yeah.
09:50Yeah.
09:51Well, nothing with the knee, it's only listed shoulder for whatever, for his ailment.
09:55So that's encouraging, but DJ Moore, Dalton Kincaid, Keon Coleman, three pass catchers,
09:59obviously all with red non-contact jerseys.
10:01I think people go a little too, you know, far with understanding or not understanding what
10:07that means.
10:07And that's okay.
10:08I w I am here to tell you though, it doesn't mean they got hurt again.
10:12It doesn't mean that, you know, something is so wrong where they can't practice.
10:16They are practicing.
10:17In fact, I say with guys with red non-contact, a lot of times you should be given credit because
10:20they are actually, they have an injury and they're actually practicing.
10:23They're on the field, which is really good.
10:24All that means is you just want to be careful when you're around them, when they're in a
10:27drill, you know, don't do something that's going to knock them over and hit them in the
10:30shoulder or hit them in a rib, whatever that, you know, Dalton Kincaid's dealing with.
10:33But when you're already out in the field on a first day of the week, I think that that's
10:37encouraging.
10:38The two that really are today notable that we have to look for Spencer, I'm sorry.
10:42Um, well, Spencer Brown, he was limited, did practice yesterday, but, um, Deion Dawkins
10:45and Alec Anderson, the left side of your line, both the starters were out yesterday and you're
10:50facing the most blitz heavy team in the NFL coming up on Monday night.
10:53Yeah.
10:54That's the thing that's scary for me is if either, even if it's just one guy on that
10:58line there, if there's one game, I could ask for all of my guys to be together so they
11:03can communicate the way that they've been comfortable, it would be this one.
11:07Um, and that, that's definitely worrisome.
11:09And the other, the other sort of big story, Sal, I think has been the, the, the Brandon
11:14Bean comments to the AP and John Waro, um, talking about a trade when we initially saw
11:20them, it was like, I'm going to be as aggressive as I can, as I've been sort of, uh, it
11:25felt
11:25really macho to me and seeing the full transcript, it feels like there's a lot more
11:32qualifying being done, Sal.
11:33It feels like there's a lot of, there's a lot I got to get lined up to make this work.
11:38Uh, what, what are your thoughts on those comments from Bean?
11:42Does that change what you're thinking about as we head into the trade deadline on Tuesday
11:46next week at all?
11:48I feel the same as you, um, you know, with the, when, when John posted the, the few, the,
11:54the full, excuse me, Q and a, um, you know, there's some qualifiers in there, which
11:58is if he, and he, and John wrote this originally to the part about if he has is to use
12:06the limited
12:06cap space he has available, right?
12:08There's two things in there.
12:09If there's not saying when I make a trade, it's, if I make a trade and it's also, I have
12:13limited cap space, right?
12:15Which is telling you, I don't know if I can make a deal or get something done.
12:18It sounds a lot to me, like what we've heard from Brandon Bean over the last few years.
12:22Although I do think by saying this publicly leading up to the trade deadline, you are putting
12:27it out there a little bit that, you know, you're, you're maybe boxing yourself into a
12:30spot that, you know, that with fans now already on edge about this are going to be even more
12:35so if something doesn't get done by Tuesday at 4 PM.
12:39Um, so yeah, I, I agree with you that it does not, it does not scream.
12:43Oh my God, we are making a deal.
12:45And if I don't make a deal, you know, something went totally completely off the rails because
12:49I'm out here working the phones every single day.
12:51I'm sure he is read to me more like, Hey, I really want to try and get something done here.
12:56I don't know if it's going to be possible, but I'm trying every avenue I can.
12:59The problem with that is fans will tell you that's all they hear.
13:03Yes.
13:04And it hasn't happened yet.
13:06And you know, we'll, we'll see where it goes by Tuesday at 4 PM.
13:09They do play a game, obviously Monday night before all of this, you know, winds up happening
13:13less than 24 hours after that.
13:15All right.
13:17Thanks, Sal.
13:19All right, guys.
13:20We'll talk to you soon.
13:21Appreciate you.
13:22All right.
13:22Uh, I, I, I'll be at Proud just so everybody knows.
13:25Follow along.
13:26You'll know who's at practice in about an hour and a half to 10 PM bills are on the
13:29practice field.
13:30So, um, I'll tweet out, you know, who, uh, who is there and who isn't over at cell sports.
13:34So when does baseball season start again for you and max?
13:38Cause, uh, we have a game.
13:39You mean like winter workouts.
13:40Now we have a game tonight.
13:41I just found out yesterday.
13:42We have a game tonight, an indoor game.
13:45Uh-huh.
13:46Yeah.
13:46We're about to start three sessions of indoor baseball.
13:49And I was not, I was not ready for games, but, uh, you know, I'm in it's cool.
13:53You got to play in the, listen, that's cool, but you got to play in these facilities where
13:56like, you know, remember when we were kids, you're like, well, if you hit it off the top
13:59of the house, it's a home run.
14:00All of that.
14:01That's what happens at these, these indoor facilities, right?
14:03All of that's in play.
14:03If it hits the roof, but it's before the pitcher, that's a no pitch.
14:08But if it's after the pitcher, that's an out.
14:10Like, I don't even, I don't know.
14:11You just described Tropicana field though, to be quite honest.
14:13Sort of.
14:14It's kind of same.
14:15Salins in Elma is very similar to playing at Tropicana, but yeah, no baseball, baseball.
14:20We had two weeks off, I think, uh, from the end of baseball season to the start of
14:24it, but it's, it's back again, uh, today.
14:27So here we go.
14:28All right.
14:28Thanks guys.
14:29Have a great weekend guys.
14:30You too.
14:31All right.
14:31Sales appearance is brought to you by outlet liquor.
14:35When you need to stock up, it's the place to buy a case.
14:37What's your outlet.
14:39I am encouraged by a lot of that stuff about the injury report.
14:42Like I saw it yesterday for the first time.
14:44It was so long.
14:45Like before you open it, I don't know how it works on your phone, but I get like the preview
14:48of the tweet.
14:49So there's the picture of it.
14:50And then I, before I even click on like that seems long, they're just, they're 18 names
14:55are on it, but I also jump right to, all right, who actually didn't practice.
15:00And then I look at the DNP and then I refer back to columns to the left to find out
15:04what
15:04the injury is.
15:05And when it's illness, Ty Johnson, no problem.
15:09I'd love, I'd love any more details we have on the Dion Dawkins, Alec Anderson, and Spencer
15:14Brown, all being mentioned in the same phrase from Sal just now.
15:19That part stinks.
15:20Time out.
15:20We have to take a break.
15:21It's middays.
15:22Brad, Tim, Owen, driven by Northtown Automotive, WGR.
