00:48one of them ty johnson is due to an illness right that's only four actual injuries keeping people
00:52out of practice right so if you want to look at it from more of an optimistic point of view

00:56the first it's like a wednesday for a sunday game even though it's thursday yeah we know that for a
01:00monday game and most of the guys limited you know red non-contact jerseys um so yeah that's good he
01:09alford back at practice full participant that's really good obviously the big thing for me actually
01:14walking out the first thing i want to know was is dj more practicing and he did and i have
01:18video of
01:18him people can check that out at my my x feed at cell sports uh dj more and he was
01:24out there
01:24practicing red non-contact but yeah that was great news after you know that to me that was the guy
01:28and listed with shoulder nothing about a knee from what looked like a hyper extended knee in the game
01:35on sunday exactly right exactly right so i actually even though the names are lengthy you have far more
01:42full than you do dnp yeah i was only you know yeah it just stood out to me that it
01:46was just so many
01:47names it's it's not usually that many names but yeah the good news is that it's and hopefully in one

01:54those is an illness like you said in ty johnson so hopefully he feels better by monday why are the
01:59why are the eight players that are listed as having practiced in full listed at all because you have
02:07to be on the injury report if you're getting treatment for something okay so that's these guys
02:12are getting treated for something right i mean at this point of the year any point of the year
02:16football players practicing in full you know what's next right good for you right they're uh
02:24they're wizards yeah they're practicing i'll also add by the way you do have two guys also on this list
02:30that aren't even on the 53 man roster yet right uh tyrell shaver's coming back from the he's still
02:34on pup he's not even on and jordan hancock return he's got his 21 day window open so you you
02:40can put you
02:41have to list them because they're practicing again but neither are activated yet that could
02:46happen this week or whenever you have two more weeks for tyrell shavers you have three weeks now
02:50for jordan hancock did you see any sign of what happened to dawkins assuming this was from the game
02:57on sunday um i did not no he is just to make sure he listed rib right so you know

03:07the game he talked in the locker room after we talked to him monday afternoon like usual yeah
03:11there was no there you go so you know again it's the first day of the week i did not

03:17would say and tell you that alec anderson had a boot on in the locker room after the game um

03:23was from tim graham said that i didn't see it tim talked to him and tim said he saw it
03:26and so and i
03:28talked to him in the locker room too he seemed fine but i didn't i didn't notice that it might
03:31have
03:31been even after i had talked to them that that happened but obviously dealing with an ankle injury we know
03:36now those boots everybody should get a pair and walk around with them on all the time
03:42just to throw everybody off yes well i give it away right sal is it interesting to you that speaking
03:48of that minnesota was willing to come out with that it's wentz and not murray uh you know such a
03:55difference in style maybe it sort of happened to them rather than they decided to do it i don't
04:00exactly know but teams of course don't always do that and for the bills sake is it good news
04:09well it is a bit surprising that a team you know does that instead of leading up and keeping you
04:14guessing a little bit so to speak like they could have done that there's no doubt and the bills even
04:18said they were preparing for both quarterbacks they didn't know who was going to play they told
04:21us that today players told us that joe brady told us that um so i i get it from that
04:28standpoint i
04:28would say though because the media is going to go out there and watch practice and kevin o'connell
04:34probably knows look they're going to go out there and see that kyler murray's not even out there like
04:37like i'm not going to play games here i'm just going to say he's not playing like we know that

04:41the other part of this guys is i think this is more of a soft benching as much as it
04:47is an injury
04:47right and i think this is he they may just wanted the message out there like we don't care even
04:53if
04:53you're healthy we don't we're not playing you so this is like through the media saying that like
04:59like we're not we're going to tell the guy through the media like yeah it's time we're moving on
05:04anyway so guess what you're not playing this week doesn't he he knows he knows like he's not going
05:10to be out there so i think it's a little bit about the injury maybe a lot about the injury
05:14but i also
05:15think it's some about they they want to move in a different direction here right i don't know if he's
05:19going to be the starter for them at all for the rest of the year to be quite honest with
05:22you
05:22might depend on how wentz does on monday night because a lot there's a lot of people commenting
05:27today like week to week yeah we'll see about that if wentz gets bodied then uh oh yeah murray's
05:33actually feeling a lot better he progressed and like but you know if wentz has a day uh even in
05:39a
05:39win or a loss it may be because a loss only is going to drop them to six and two
05:43if the offense is
05:44you know more competent than it's been with wentz at the controls then i think they'll just keep
05:50going um what do you think of the likelihood of that happening sal i feel like murray it hasn't been
05:55working and as much as he's dynamic and presents a running threat that wentz simply is incapable of
06:03providing um i feel like it wasn't working and i'd rather deal with that than wentz i feel like wentz
06:12if
06:12can protect him that's a big question i feel like he's gonna know where to go with the ball like
06:16he's gonna find justin jefferson open against this bill's defense even if cory couch is playing
06:22um i think there'll be there'll be opportunities there i feel like he's a more competent trustworthy
06:29ball deliverer if you will than murray and so i would rather play murray myself
06:35i think so too um i think that tyler murray just has not been very good this year
06:43and you know throwing the football but what he does is he extends plays and he's mobile
06:47that has actually given the bills some problems so going back to mike's question is it better
06:51for the bills or worse for the bills to face carson wentz you could look at it both ways and
06:54honestly going back and forth on this i think there are some positives and negatives the
07:00reason why you'd want to face kyler murray is just that what you said carson wentz gonna throw a
07:05good football he's gonna hang in the pocket he's gonna look for justin jefferson he's gonna throw a
07:09good football he's gonna deliver it we know we've seen that before and he's not what he used to be
07:14used to be a little more mobile yeah um but you know that's not something's really should hurt the
07:18bills too much but it you know certainly could move around a little bit back there but not like
07:22carla murray that's for sure but i would tell you guys the the quarterbacks have given the bills
07:27trouble this year are the mobile ones and and when i say trouble meaning like that's how they have
07:32they gave up runs to cj stroud they gave up runs to drake may and they gave up passes when
07:39they
07:39could kind of maneuver around the pocket and extend plays when they jared golf back there it wasn't like
07:44that when they had joe fagnano back there it wasn't like that and i know he's joe fagnano but you
07:48get
07:48the point like they when he had kirk cousins back there there were times that happened but for the
07:52most part wasn't really like that i so i think the bills actually do match up much better against this
07:58type of quarterback because the the mobile types of quarterbacks have given the bills more problems
08:04this year that being said carson wentz is capable of throwing for 300 yards still in an nfl football
08:10game there's no doubt about it and you just have to make sure you are putting that pressure on and
08:14making sure that he can't escape anywhere and do that so i i don't know i think it's a really
08:19good question and they're both so different uh you know that the bills have to be the bills have to
08:26be able to you know get to him though to make sure he's not standing in there and finding
08:29yeah i wonder how much the change stylistically of course they're different you know you pretty
08:34much know where wentz is going to be murray could go anywhere like so i wonder if there's a little
08:40more i don't know do you want to heat wentz up more than you would have gone after murray because
08:45you might worry that murray can make a blitzer miss and now you're you know compromised on the back
08:51end whereas wentz you might feel like you know as long as i blitz effectively right the guy chooses
08:57the right lane whatever like i'm gonna get home on this guy if i if i blitz him and so
09:02i wonder if
09:03that'll be you know kind of like how they handled foggiano let last sunday it was just like all right
09:09damn the torpedoes this guy's not going to get through the reads quick enough you know wentz has
09:13played well a hundred more games than that guy so maybe that's a deterrent i don't know i just wonder
09:20tactically how it'll change yeah look the the thing about the vikings too though is
09:26they have not run the ball very well this year they don't have a world-leading offensive line
09:31like they are a team that struggles up front and struggles to run the ball and that has put them
09:37in
09:37some you know tougher positions to throw the ball obviously and that's what you have to watch out
09:41for the bills have been very good against the run this year we know that and they're facing what
09:45aaron jones 4.2 yards a carry and that's okay um but it's not really a team that's done a
09:51great job of
09:51running the football uh when mason's come in i'm looking now 3.9 yards a carry uh murray's the one
09:575.8 that's the guy that you worry about you don't have to worry about that here so that kind
10:01of starts
10:02really up front with them their offense just really hasn't been that great this year but the x factor
10:07is of course you know a guy getting the ball to justin jefferson getting the ball to tj hawkins and
10:11they have they have some pass catchers they have guys that can catch the ball uh no doubt about
10:14that addison so you know we'll see what they can do there now for the rest of the year what's
10:19interesting is i've heard people float around the idea that they could go after daniel jones
10:22after what you know with the colts selling off parts and that that could be a little bit of an
10:27answer for them i don't really know um you know if that's something they want to do at this point
10:32in their season but if they're going to bench tyler murray for the rest of the year then i think
10:38anything is on the table as far as improving that position because they're a team that's trying
10:41to win the division i saw that too and that would just be incredible if minnesota's ultimate answer
10:49was daniel jones for whatever that would cost in terms of a draft pick if i may ask i'm curious

11:04mccarthy's drafted darnold is signed murray is signed wentz even josh dobbs nick mullins max
11:14brasmer what's been their biggest mistake mccarthy is not only drafted he's then traded
11:21and he's starting now for a first place team maybe they'd like to have him sunday or monday night
11:27i think the biggest mistake was drafting him that's what i think because drafting him made you
11:34feel like you needed to divest yourself of darnold because you had stock in mccarthy and like it made
11:41it easy once darnold derailed at the end of that great season he had to go like well we got

11:46guy we got a better idea let's do that and if you don't have mccarthy there you probably re-sign
11:52darnold and keep going oh yeah yeah so i i think that just created a domino effect right of what
12:01you're seeing but to me like that was the first thing they did that's like i don't know why they
12:06did that they didn't have to do that drafting jj mccarthy they even if it's not darnold i felt like
12:12maybe if you're gonna move off darnold even like is there another veteran you can bring in
12:16it felt like they were in a position where they didn't need to do something like that you know what

12:20mean yeah whence bills killer watch out two and oh he was he's he's played remember the game here
12:28in 21 against the eagles was terrible for the bills yeah and then the other one is jonathan taylor
12:33ran for five touchdowns or scored five oh yeah oh yeah by the way do you know that joe namath

12:38a losing record against the bills for his career would that surprise you no i don't know those were
12:45pretty good then those were pretty good back then um nameth i believe is on that list of it's an
12:53incredible list of quarterbacks who made their first ever start pro start against the bills
12:59yeah marino there are a lot of these jeff george drew um drew bledsoe so as a real ryan leaf

13:17passes 33 picks in his 19 starts against the bills all right so the bills on offense in this game

13:27everything's about minnesota and the blitzing and the different looks brian flores has played against
13:32allen coach rather against allen before you know back with miami i would assume a few times perhaps
13:37um what do you think we don't know about dawkins or even anderson what do you think about allen and
13:44their offense against him
13:49josh has a pretty good history going against his defenses so you bring that up and if you go back
13:54and look when he was in miami as the head coach and did they play the steelers in 2022 that's
14:04where
14:04senior defense is i guess it wouldn't matter um but josh she's done pretty well um they are just
14:10gonna they they blitz from everywhere and josh has known to beat the blitz but if they get you on
14:15the
14:15ground it doesn't matter right and that's what their goal is right they blitz from everywhere you
14:19never know where they're coming from talking to guys down at one bill's drive today it's not just
14:25that it's that they're also sound like they play sound defense a lot of times you can get a team
14:29that's helter skelter just blitzing from everywhere and you can just find spots where okay well they're
14:36doing that to cover up some deficiencies yeah right correct correct but that's not the case with this
14:42group and i think the numbers prove it at least you know what they've done so far through this season
14:47the numbers are incredible what they what they've been able to do and um there the bills have to be
14:52ready for that you know one thing that's got to really happen this week is running backs have to be
14:57very good in pass protection so ty johnson's illness is something to watch for this week
15:02hopefully he's not you know so sick where he misses a game i would hope he'd be back to practice

15:07tomorrow we'll see but ty johnson's got to be important in this game i think ray davis could
15:11be important in this game you might not have to have you might not be able to put james cook
15:14on the
15:15field as much as you want yeah you want to handle the ball you want to run the ball and
15:18detroit did a
15:19good job of that last week but you're gonna have some third downs and that's ty johnson and that
15:23might be ray davis running 13 personnel should help you in a lot of that yeah because they're
15:29you're gonna you're gonna big boy it a little bit you're gonna they're gonna have to watch out for
15:33the run game they can't put pin their ears back maybe that gives you a little more time
15:36and you know you're gonna have guys on the edge where you know you're gonna have to go and extend
15:41out a little bit because you got to go against a couple of tight ends out there so i just
15:45think that
15:45you know the bills have some counters that they'll be able to go with here and i'm really excited to
15:49see you know what they can do yeah we talked to matthew collar purple insider covers the vikings
15:54yesterday and he said because i made the point about the 12 and 13 that detroit did a lot of
16:00that
16:00especially in the second half of the game that it was 12 and 13 personnel and that worked and matt
16:05said
16:05you know teams of everybody's trying to do that what are you going to do against a team that's as
16:10aggressive as the viking you're going to you know try to find a way to compromise that and that's one
16:16way
16:16and not everyone's as good at it as detroit with gibbs and what they've got i think the bills are
16:22a team that is to be respected when they go to 12 or 13 so my first thought when i
16:28started thinking
16:28about this game following sunday was they do what the line what worked for the lions yeah i agree with
16:35that i don't know the exact numbers i'd like to see if there's where i can find i'm sure there's
16:39somewhere see if i can uh look it up here real quick while i'm talking to you guys i'd like

16:45slot receivers versus versus vikings this year this could be a hot read game this could be a game
16:49where kalil shakir just kind of okay i'm just going to run to where the guy was and replace him

16:53know what i mean and turn around and throw the ball to me josh here i am right i feel

16:57that respect is big here too for pass blocking of course but maybe he chips a guy and then leaks

17:04and if they're sending six or seven dudes like you know that's an opportunity to to really have a lot
17:09of open field out there no doubt so those are things that you know the bills i mean look they've
17:15faced aggressive teams before they've faced blitzing teams before i have confidence the
17:19bills offense you know can at least move the ball some it's it's going to be about finishing and not
17:23turning the ball over really don't give them any extra opportunities um you know because when you're
17:27aggressive josh you know you hope he says okay i'm gonna live to fight another day don't try to do
17:32something that turns the ball over and puts the ball into their hands but you know certainly um you know
17:38and you wonder it i think brian flores will continue to do what he does but it's certainly
17:42possible he's like you know this quarterback don't really want to do that as much again so
17:45you know maybe they don't quite come after him as much but they they probably will
