00:03we'll get into gators entry into the chili cook-off good for you i'm proud of you for uh
00:07thank you participating thank you yeah aren't that many this year i guess what's that i think
00:13there's only i think i was told there's only like six really yeah so you got a shot here
00:18oh i've got a shot are you chesty about this i'm not chesty about it i'm chesty about what i
00:25made
00:25i i think it's good i made it last night and uh i had a quick bowl last night well
00:30i won't be the
00:31judge of that no i know you won't because there's ground beef in there but um it's uh i thought
00:35it
00:35turned out really really well and chili is one of those things that gets better the next day
00:40as it you know sits and stews and it's in its stuff for a little bit longer so um i'm
00:47looking forward
00:47to seeing that and uh you know brought some extra spices with me today just in case you gotta add
00:53it
00:53up um maybe kang will be the judge of it well yeah i'll support you gator i'll be a good
00:58co-worker
00:59well but what if i mean i'm just kidding they're what and you said there's six chilies there's six
01:05so kang will you try all six for us yeah i can do that yeah and see uh what about
01:10an intense
01:10palm is intense paul like chili intense paul you like chili yeah chili's good all right all right
01:17intense paul and kang will do the the unbiased opinion i don't want i mean i'm not looking to
01:26you know get the government involved and well you should take my opinion more than intense paul
01:30he's from south florida i don't know how it's chilly they have down there that's a great point
01:33you know what i mean my opinion might matter more yeah
01:40um okay so look uh we we asked people all day yesterday what was an appropriate amount of
01:49emotional weight to put into last night's piston 76ers game and the responses we got were basically
01:57on a scale of one to ten we're mostly five and below that the appropriate amount of emotional
02:03weight ten being like a game seven one being like a pre-season game most people didn't want to put
02:11too much weight into it which is sort of a responsible uh response i guess uh from from our audience
02:19but
02:19that doesn't mean there isn't things that were bothersome last night right correct um so i guess
02:26we'll open up the show by talking to piston fans about what bothered you what bothered you in the
02:31one 12 106 loss to the 76ers which really i mean it basically detroit missed i think it was eight
02:39shots in a row in the first quarter philly got a double digit lead kind of kept it there the
02:45whole
02:45way um you know detroit made runs got it down to eight a few times eventually got it down to
02:52four
02:54but the but at the end of the day i i it felt like it was philly's game philly established
03:00a lead early
03:01and fended detroit off the entire way so what bothered you people or 2485 39 97 97 with the
03:09appropriate amount of emotional weight put into it it's not the end of the world yeah i for me it's
03:17it's just that it wasn't uh anywhere near a complete game i i think we've become accustomed
03:23to watching this team you know play pretty well um and but we've also seen games where okay they get
03:29down by a lot they're going to have to dig themselves out of it and i guess it's the frustration
03:33of again
03:34having to dig yourselves out of a hole in this case it was a 17 point deficit uh it took
03:40them a while
03:40before they they made it interesting i think they got it to four in the fourth quarter and then you
03:44start
03:44playing a foul game and uh needed a big shot didn't get the big shot that needed a stop didn't
03:50get the
03:50big stop so it's just that little bit of frustration but it's not it's not huge it's not massive you
03:57know
03:57i can look at this game and say all right so like the first game against against philadelphia they were
04:03playing with one of their best players well this game pistons playing without jayland during without
04:06isaiah joe this is not the team that we're going to see when they get to the playoffs so it's
04:12okay i'm
04:12all right with it i'm encouraged by certain things like duncan robinson's off to a fantastic start with
04:18his shooting you know kevin herter looks like a completely different player than what we got to
04:22see last year after the pistons acquired him you know i saw our thompson is working on some things
04:26offensively and there's a lot to like there's a lot to still work on certainly um you know those are
04:32those are the things i'm looking at what bothered me is when you look at philly we're talking about
04:39detroit trying to find a second reliable score between maxi and brown and and bead and edgecomb and
04:46also lebron they got five guys and detroit defensively didn't have the answers okay they
04:55didn't if you look at the box score all those guys they did almost all the scoring for philly yeah
05:01the starting five the starting five had all but 13 points in that game so they scored 99 points
05:0799 points came from philly starting five detroit couldn't defend them all if you will and if
05:14if you're going to if the pistons are going to win and i think that they can and that's why
05:19last
05:19night's game is the appropriate what i say a four on the scale one to ten as far as emotional
05:24investment
05:25there's going off and basically i was scoring 20 points and you know that's that's the challenge of
05:31playing philly and so that's what bothered that's what bothered me the most is that what the pistons
05:38are going the formula for the pistons did not apply last night and that is they got to be better
05:45on the
05:46defensive end kang what bothered you the most about that loss to philly with the appropriate amount of
05:50motion weight i was gonna say it's tough because i don't even like to use the word bother you know
05:54like that's where i'm at with that game i i told you i was a six just because it's a
05:59big team coming in
06:00with lebron and then the stars and so it gets my attention and of course anytime you want to beat
06:05lebron is a good time you know to beat lebron um but it's you know i see the same things
06:11that might
06:11keep this team from going deep in the playoffs and it's it's a true secondary score and i say this
06:15all
06:16the time but it's not just a guy who scores the second most points on the team it's how did
06:19he get
06:19those points how can he open up things for other teammates can he create his own shot can he go
06:24one
06:24and one and right now they're a great team they are like i emphasize the word team
06:29but when you break it down individually they don't have a bunch of star players clearly kade's a star
06:34but after that i mean you could say jaylen duran's a pretty good player of course but
06:38we've already talked about you know his deficiencies and what he did in the playoffs last year so
06:42they need that other guy and it doesn't even have to be a superstar sometimes it can be like
06:47a guy that comes off the bench that can hey this guy is instant points he can create his own
06:52shot
06:52he can do his own thing that's what i think they need eventually at some point this season so what
06:56quote-unquote bothered me is we're very reliant on kade and even when duncan robinson's on they
07:01still have a hard time keeping up with other teams that have multiple superstars yeah that's
07:05i'm glad you brought that up because that that stands out when you see a team that has multiple
07:09superstars you're like oh that does look nice it'd be pretty great if they had a jaylen brown to go
07:14next to kade cunningham so whether that's you know missing out on and damian lillard or or missing out on
07:22uh any other players like kyrie irving yeah that's a possibility later this year which i doubt i mean
07:27kyrie irving had a hell of a game last night they allegedly were after austin reeves as well you
07:32know they i think trajan langdon he was rumored to go get guys they just didn't end up with anybody
07:36like that two four eight five three nine ninety seven ninety seven by all means if you want to freak
07:42out about last night's loss i i'm go ahead i keep trying to tap the brakes on people losing their
07:47minds on the air go ahead and lose your mind uh but i i think we all kind of established
07:53yesterday
07:53this wasn't the the this wasn't you know a meaningful game in terms of the big picture
07:58the 30 000 foot view of the season but it was a snapshot in time and that snapshot in time
08:03the pistons formula did not work against philly philly was just too good on the offensive end and
08:08detroit didn't get nearly enough stops and if you're not if they're not going to get enough stops
08:12then they're not going to win games like this against teams like that let's go to kevin on a
08:16salio 97 one hello kevin hey how you guys doing today good kevin good oh i'm not putting too much
08:24into that game you know just it's early in the season but my problem what i'm seeing about the
08:30pistons is i was watching how they was playing cage and cage got a little bit hurt or whatever
08:36but he still was trying to perform but everybody knows that they only got we only got one person
08:42in this case we need to get a second option no one else can get they shot off and it's
08:47going to be
08:47tough if we don't get a second option going into the playoff i like how um robertson did but is
08:55that
08:55going to be there every day is he going to be our second option i really think that we just
09:00need to
09:00get another second option because if we get another second option we would be a dangerous team
09:05real dangerous especially in the playoff see i think they're a dangerous team now but but
09:11probably that is like sort of the number one bullet point on a to-do list for a general manager
09:19is is is finding that guy that they seem to seek this offseason austin reeves is a great example
09:26that they couldn't you know how much would he have helped last night now you know i don't think that
09:33was the pistons best effort and now the pistons were shorthanded in a major way they were without
09:37a starter and paul reed's great for what paul reed does but you know that that's another thing to keep
09:44in mind yeah not a great shooting night for paul reed last night but yeah he's he's really good in
09:49his role but jalen duran is the guy uh let's go to al and southfield you're next on 90 someone
09:54hello al
09:56hi hi doug and scott um bottom line um from last night's game to me now it's not the time
10:03to
10:03it's not the time to panic and as you said in the first in the first meeting that the pistons
10:09had in
10:09philadelphia uh philadelphia didn't have all their starting five john b didn't play um for example
10:15and to um of course last night of course we were fouled on jalen duran and without ian joe and
10:21i think
10:22isaiah joe is the key this guy can shoot the balls well and play good defense and once those two
10:27get
10:28back i think we're going to see a different piston basketball team i don't disagree al i think you're
10:34right it'd be good to have everybody healthy to see what the matchup looks like but we won't see
10:39that the rest of the year as their season series with philly is done 248-539-9797 by the way
10:45we got
10:45the nfl blitz thingy coming up as well here on karshen anderson uh 97 one
