In a big trial, CPAP didn't cut heart attacks or strokes, but lifestyle changes got about 62% of people off the machine in six months.

CPAP did help in the SAVE trial. More than 2,700 people with sleep apnea and heart disease snored less, felt less sleepy and had better mood and quality of life. That matters. But it didn't significantly lower cardiovascular deaths, heart attacks, strokes or heart failure hospitalizations.

In the INTERAPNEA trial, men with moderate to severe sleep apnea worked on nutrition, exercise, sleep habits, alcohol and tobacco. In eight weeks their sleep apnea severity dropped by about half, and after six months almost 30% were in complete remission.

A machine only works while you wear it. Better metabolic health is how a lot of people get to reversed. Please don't stop a prescribed CPAP on your own. Talk with your doctor first.

Let's get healthy together.
