00:00Attorney at law and former police officer Taradat Singh was laid to rest today.
00:05As family, friends and colleagues gathered to pay their final respects to a man remembered for his dedication to the
00:12legal profession and those closest to him.
00:16His brother, Jagdeo Singh, recalled that just days before his passing, he had recorded a voice note for his family.
00:23He said he was pleased that his brother found a God and the family chose to share the recording as
00:29part of the funeral service.
00:53So, the same thing you have had is your soft days and hard times, easy times.
00:58It's all once a package, we call it life.
01:02So, don't let any moment, all things will pass, whether good, bad, joy, sorrow, it will all pass.
01:11Don't let any moment determine your next day or your next days.
01:17It will pass, whatever it is, right?
01:19His daughter, Rebecca Singh, also delivered an emotional eulogy, remembering a father who discipline and dedication to his work became
01:28life lessons she would carry with her.
01:30She recalled the long nights he spent reviewing case files, teaching her that success required patience, attention to details and
01:38perseverance.
01:40I remember those nights he'd remained downstairs at the dining table, looking through documents and marking them off with his
01:45infamous yellow highlighter.
01:48Blank paper quickly filling up, blue pen working tirelessly, and him telling me,
01:53Waze, you see? I could have missed this and not even know if I didn't check back twice.
01:58Anytime Dad saw something in a case file that he didn't register before, he'd essentially tell me,
02:05You won't get it once, you won't get it twice, but you have to keep trying. You'll get it through
02:11hard work.
02:12She said beyond his professional accomplishments, her father was also her mentor, consistently encouraging her to believe in herself and
02:20never give up when faced with challenges.
02:23Aside from his work life, he was also a mentor.
02:26When I felt like something was too hard, he'd tell me that I had a fire burning inside of me
02:32and that I just had to use it.
02:35Difficult was a word he challenged. Nothing was impossible to Dad.
02:40He had a way of making you feel like you were capable of more than you thought.
02:44He'd say, life isn't for the fastest or the smartest, but for those who are willing to endure until the
02:53very end.
02:54That same commitment to mentoring others was echoed by his colleagues, who remembered him as more than their principal attorney,
03:01but also a teacher and a source of guidance and encouragement.
03:05Mr. Singh had a remarkable ability to recognize the strengths of those around him.
03:10He entrusted us with responsibility, believed in our abilities, and often gave us the confidence when we even doubted ourselves.
03:18To many of us, he was more than a principal attorney.
03:22He was a mentor, a teacher, and someone we could approach for guidance, support, or simply a listening ear.
