00:18off a big win a big win over green bay last sunday gator i would argue that this is the

00:27we've had on the show about the lions the week after a win ever it started with the fourth down
00:35debate oh yeah and it cranked up yesterday with the jeffrey simmons trade from tennessee to chicago
00:43yeah um and and i'm not to say look people who don't like the fourth down decisions we've we've
00:50talked about how everybody's entitled to their opinion and certainly um you know there's
00:56disagreement over way with the way campbell does things that's one two is the the jeffrey simmons
01:03trade yesterday i don't know why i kind of had an epiphany halfway through the show why i got
01:09preoccupied with trying to tell people don't give up on the season but there were plenty of people
01:14giving up on the season yesterday because jeffrey simmons goes to chicago bottom line is it's been
01:21a weird week to do this job because that was a big win and they got a huge game sunday
01:25and i i don't
01:27remember getting this much yelling about the lions after a win yeah i i agree with you and i think
01:33it's
01:33it's mostly because of uh of the fourth down decisions and well that was that was kind of monday tuesday
01:40wednesday yeah no i got it it has staying power because i think people are still divided on that although
01:47maybe as time has gone on maybe people are more on the side of dan campbell going forward fourth and
01:53two from their own 24 yard don't say that well i said it i'll stand by it yeah i think
01:59people have
01:59eased off that a little bit some people have not all because you still have people that don't like
02:05dan campbell regardless and this is the number one bullet point why they don't like him is because
02:09he gambles too much um with the fourth down situations but yeah that that that's signing by the
02:16the trade by the bears doesn't help and and it comes on on the heels of san francisco getting uh
02:22you know buckner buckner back you've got seattle trading for one of the best offensive linemen in
02:28football you've got rumors swirling that there could be a couple of big running backs traded before the
02:34deadline uh there's a lot happening and and a lot that could happen and people want the lions to go
02:41for
02:41it because they are seeing plenty of of examples of other teams that are going for it this year
02:47and why not our team this is what they've been complaining about for years go for it make the
02:54move that puts you over the top go for it and and of course we always say got to have
02:58that player to
02:59go for and right now who's who's available to go for we don't know we don't know they could try
03:04and
03:04force the issue the way the bears apparently forced the issue with tennessee and just kept calling and
03:08calling and calling and kept up in the ante up in the ante up in the ante until finally they
03:12accepted
03:12it um but big game coming up on sunday a couple of interesting thoughts about the vikings first of
03:20all the vikings are an 11 game win streak dating back to week 14 of last year they've won 11
03:25in a row
03:27in those 11 games how many different starting quarterbacks the vikings have had
03:34uh oh what's jj mccarthy brosmer you got um wentz and murray is it five it's four you you named
03:45them all well done good job here's something else that's interesting everybody says that the vikings
03:53defense is elite and i they are exceptional right got it yep but this is kind of interesting
04:00the quarterbacks they faced in the 11 game winning streak
04:05this is these are all the quarterbacks they face now remember some quarterbacks left during games so
04:12they faced jayden daniels marcus mariota dak prescott jackson dart jared goff clayton toon
04:20jordan love caleb williams for half a game badgent baker mayfield uh jayden daniels again
04:28malik willis tyler shuck daniel jones out of those i'd say they faced four good quarterbacks
04:36in that time others that can give you problems but and then one of them was our guy golf and
04:42they
04:42and when they got to golf the lions turned it over six times in that game but that's not exactly
04:48a
04:48who's who of great quarterbacks no it's not but what's relevant is what they did to the lions
04:52and they played them twice and they beat them twice and they beat the lions with brosmer they beat
04:56him with brosmer they beat him with jj mccarthy they beat him with both guys you know mccarthy
05:00jj's jj you know right he did nothing in that game until he completes one pass in the game and
05:06like
05:06what just happened did they seriously just lose to the vikings and the christmas day debacle is
05:11that goes down in history not quite as bad but almost as bad as is matt flynn taking care of

05:19lions of lambeau field at the end of the season god that was brutal but both of those games are
05:24pretty
05:24brutal i think it's i think it's it's relevant that the vikings have have done this to jared
05:30golf in this offense now what's also relevant is it was a different offense last year and he had a
05:35different center last year uh different offensive line altogether because blake miller's not on that
05:40team you got penne sewell who's now going to be on the left side um there's there's changes here
05:47hopefully the lions got a lot more competent in the middle of that offensive line with with draft
05:53picks and with signings and where they're at just more experience it's going to be a test either
05:59way i think the vikings defense is for real it doesn't matter who's a quarterback they're going
06:03to they're going to come after you um but can the do the lions have enough to combat that and
06:08maybe
06:08the the simple thing is just run the football maybe that's it um and then if they crowd the line
06:15of scrimmage then it's going to open up the one-on-one coverage and you can spot that a mile
06:19away and
06:19exploit it something to keep in mind when the lions faced green or excuse me minnesota last christmas
06:27day the one where golf got you know golf had 10 sacks in the two games that one he had
06:32three fumbles
06:32through two picks obviously was under duress the lion's starting left tackle was dan skipper
06:37their starting center was that a gukon guy oh yeah so they wow yeah
06:46yeah i think they're i think they're better prepared for this vikings team this time around

07:42i don't i don't diss them but show them respect i think i think it's a team that the lions
07:48are better prepared to play this time around in fact foreshadowing i like the lions a lot this weekend

08:00a lot 13 dollars worth maybe wow if i'm doing radio in minnesota i have my concerns about this weekend
08:10is this the beginning of the uh fall of the house of cards that is the vikings i don't know

08:15that but they trade for a running back and well what i think it is is a it's one of

08:22that if the lions were the undefeated team and minnesota had the lions resume and detroit was
08:26going to minnesota i'd be concerned well i'd be very concerned here's something else that has
08:32happened for the lions the last three weeks the return of jack campbell being jack campbell
08:37seems like it yeah he's got 35 tackles in the last three weeks more than 10 tackles in each of
08:42the three games jack campbell's back to being jack campbell again which is really good news
08:49what they're struggling with is finding somebody else that can cover a tight end with the with the group
08:55of rodrigo and and nawaski and and others that's where they're struggling right now

09:22i think like you said ball control that's the big thing so if you can get um a running back

09:28running back and a linebacker slash defensive lineman for a mid-round pick that's all you need
09:33because i think if you can take the other team off the field for one more possession a game that's
09:37going to save you three to four points a game and points allowed i think make everybody much better
09:41and much more rested overall tom interesting you want a linebacker more than you want a player in
09:46the secondary no i i think if you control the ball and you know i think you're gonna get pressure

09:52think people are wearing down so i think our guys are going to shine a little bit more and
09:55you know if they have a little bit more gas in the tank from from sitting for extra few minutes
09:59here and there i think that will do wonders i don't think you need to freak out and mortgage
10:04the future for this season interesting you're you're a rare bird dude because i think most people
10:10want after what happened yesterday most people want a massive move i mean i think you're going to
10:15find some guys who are you know got about a season worth of leg left under them who can get
10:20for a
10:20mid-round pick let them give it all this season then you don't have to worry about them next year
10:24you know and that's i think that's all you need to do i don't think you need to hit the
10:27home run
10:27because as you've talked about it as we've seen it doesn't usually work out well and there are
10:31plenty examples you know but anyway you're uh your red wing take real quick yeah i mean let's let's do
10:37some nba style trade here let's do a sign and trade with minnesota where you send evanson and larkin
10:42have them sign a contract for evanson trade them to minnesota for hughes and either a draft pick or
10:48a young player or something and sign him and get that way you get somebody you want who might want
10:52to be
10:53here and then larkin goes where he wants to go and then everybody's happy i i don't i don't think
10:59minnesota would do that i think minnesota is trying desperately to hang on to uh to hughes and they're
11:03not going to trade him but if it gets to a point by the trade deadline that they realize that
11:09they
11:09can't sign him because he's going to ask for 20 million a year then maybe he gets traded at that
11:14point but it's not going to involve the red wings point is give him evanson and maybe they'll part
11:18with hughes larkin and evanson hughes and stuff would be a big trade yeah but the red wings are
11:26going to pay 20 million dollars a year for for hughes um well his point he would say only do

11:32if hughes signs hughes has to agree to a deal evanson has to agree to a deal and larkin has
11:38to agree to
11:39deal and does dylan larkin want to go to a minnesota team that doesn't have quinn here well that's a
