Back at Lake Kerkini in Greece, the morning light doesn’t always cooperate, but the wildlife and atmosphere still make the wait worthwhile. After months away shooting commissions and moving house in the UK, the day begins with a return to the lakeside hide to try for dawn shots of flamingos, ducks, and other waterbirds before a Dalmatian pelican workshop.

With clouds holding the sun back, the horizon stays stubbornly grey while Eurasian wigeon, teal, and other birds drift across the lake. The mountains catch a little light, the cold starts to bite, and the scene becomes less about a perfect sunrise and more about patience, observation, and being present in nature. It’s a quiet behind-the-scenes bird photography session, showing the realities of shooting from a hide when the weather doesn’t quite play along.

Ideal for viewers who enjoy bird photography, wildlife photography, nature videography, and calm outdoor storytelling. If you search for Lake Kerkini birds, flamingo photography, duck photography, hide photography, or behind-the-scenes wildlife shooting, this is a grounded look at the process, the light, and the landscape.

00:02I don't know what I'm saying, but I don't know what I'm saying.
00:43Hello, good morning and welcome back to Greece, it's been a while since I uploaded anything
00:51mainly due to the fact that I was back home in the UK sorting out a house move and shooting
00:57various jobs and things so apologies for the absence. Like I said I'm back at Lake Ergini in Greece
01:07here to shoot the Dalmatian pelicans in a couple of days in a workshop that I'm meeting
01:13and until then I thought I'd come down to the lakeside here and see if I can get some dawn
01:21shots
01:21of the flamingos and ducks and other wildfowl that are on the lake this time of year.
01:27So yeah unfortunately the horizon is looking a little bit socked in by clouds so I might
01:34not get the sun actually rising behind the mountain or over the lake there but you should still
01:40get some nice light so we'll see what the daylight brings.
01:46So it's starting to get a little bit more activity now. There's some avocets out there, some Eurasian
01:54ridden flamingos which I'm sure you can hear. That's them. And various other ducks and waders. So it's gone into
02:10the clock now. And the sun should have been up about 15 minutes ago. It's gotten a little bit brighter.
02:21But still it's really really low light. And the birdies are still quite far away. There's a couple of ducks
02:35that are drifting in closer and another set as well.
02:42The mountains looking stunning. Just trying to show you the mountain. It's just starting to catch the light now. So
02:53that's the scene.
02:53The wind over the wind.
03:01The wind over the wind.
03:06The wind over the wind.
03:13I'm gonna see the airpods.
03:16The wind over the wind.
03:19I'm gonna see a little wind over the wind.
03:20I see what the staccas are coming off.
03:21I've got this.
03:23It's a silhouette, I can't actually tell what it is.
03:33Yeah, I think I just need the sun to come up a little bit.
03:37Hopefully poke through that hole.
03:42And then,
03:44lighten up the ceiling constantly a little bit.
04:03Unfortunately, the light doesn't look like it's going to happen.
04:08See, I'm just before mine.
04:14And there's a few more teal have gathered in front of me.
04:18And a few other sets.
04:22But the flamingos and pochard and everything else is quite high out.
04:30The cloud looks pretty solid on the horizon.
04:33It's clear above my head.
04:36But down on the horizon there where the sun is supposed to be coming up.
04:41It's totally, totally clouded in.
04:48I don't think it's going to get much closer.
04:58I'm starting to feel the cold now as well.
05:04Just keep holding on a cup of breath with much Woman بت some bring dark Milk...
05:05I don't think it's, too, too.
05:16And question a lot more.
05:19Imagine what you're talking about.
05:21It's a new perfect plan for me.
05:25You know what?
05:34I'm not sure what to do because I should hang on in the hope, call it quits for the morning
05:42and go get some breakfast and try again tomorrow.
06:03This is probably what I'm going to do, okay, to be continued I think, I shall see you later.
07:00I'll see you later.
07:29I'll see you later.
07:41I'll see you later.
07:43I'll see you later.
