00:07okay good morning everyone very very early start today call time four o'clock I'm on my way to get
00:18into the airplane to fly to Monganer and the reason why I'm leaving so early this morning is
00:25because yesterday I got a call from multiple people but informing me that Danelle had been
00:35monitoring some animals and she was looking for a cheetah in particular that had cubs four cubs to be
00:46precise and so she managed to find the cheetah but unfortunately the cheetah was
00:55no more because the cheetah had been killed by a lion so this happens often not just here in
01:02Denneking but all around Africa cheetah are very susceptible or vulnerable to being attacked
01:10and killed by lions so what are we doing now I'm basically on my way there to meet everyone
01:18including the vet and we are going to attempt to find and capture these cubs these cubs are seven
01:28months old okay so if we are successful in capturing these cheetah cubs they're going to come to the
01:36sanctuary we've already prepared an area for them okay guys so arrived safe at Monganer wow a bit windy
01:48this morning didn't expect it to be this windy but it's not a constant wind it's just like this choppy
01:56wind
01:56so a little bit of a hairy landing but yeah you know I'm waiting for uh Jan to pick me
02:04up I'm a little bit early
02:06um but that's okay I can just make sure the plane's okay in this wind
02:14atmospheric yeah we had fire at the last day I see yeah so that burnt there yeah well up there
02:21by
02:22next to uh you know caution yeah yeah but it didn't come into the reserve no no no we were
02:29fighting
02:30enough to stop it before and and um it sounds like land dispute or something like that what they said
02:37a lot yeah well to each other you know there was something wrong although they didn't agree on
02:43something I don't but yeah luckily we did with them
02:56all right guys so we're here this is the area where they were last seen
03:00um it's a little like finger that goes up towards the north um it's quite a isolated area so it's
03:14quite unfortunate that that lioness found them here uh Danelle and
03:24Sean are out looking for them see where they are
03:29um it seems sounds like they they found one of the darted one
03:34where about down there yeah I think they're gonna try and dart it uh yeah I think that
03:40already darted one of them oh they got one yeah all right we're late for the early show guys
03:48uh it looks like they might have darted one so let's hope fingers crossed
03:57so Jan heard another shot which I didn't hear I'm as deficit or not but it looks like
04:04it looks like they're making their way back here um so maybe he darted another
04:09cub and they're coming back with the one that he got earlier
04:24did you win? got one got one little female sure I'm gonna use it as bait okay put it in
04:31the crate
04:31and we'll park the crate we'll go put the crate there next to the road just leave the crate there
04:36and
04:36then hopefully it will chirp and okay oh morning Danelle
04:46how is the condition looking a bit dehydrated
04:52not too bad actually just skinny yeah skinny obviously drinking somewhere
04:59but then there's no water first fire isn't there I mean they they're not dehydrated
05:04eh Naku it's the closest water
05:08I think they'll be in much worse condition if it was five days
05:10yeah I was just about these guys because they're not that badly dehydrated eh
05:16no so 23 seems a little bit more realistic realistic yeah
05:19yeah and what alerted you Danelle? her collar said no movement detected
05:27was it like a mortality signal or just no movement? no movement so if um the cats of the collars
05:34don't
05:34move at all yeah it will give us an alert saying no movement detected so I came out and checked
05:39and found
05:40somebody doing their job
05:46and then the age of these cubs see say seven months
05:49so
05:49so
05:50so
05:50so
05:50so
05:50so
05:51Yes.
06:24You give the reversal?
06:25Yeah, yeah.
07:07You give the reversal.
07:10You give the reversal.
07:37So, let's go.
07:41Guys, let's just hope they don't run away now.
07:45If they move, hopefully they don't move too far.
07:48You can't dart three at a time.
08:16Yep.
08:17Yeah, that's good.
08:18Good shot.
08:18Good shot.
08:30Good shot.
08:34Good shot.
08:48Good shot.
09:12Good shot.
09:14Good shot.
09:15Good shot.
09:15Good shot.
09:28Good shot.
09:31Good shot.
09:47Sorry about all the chirping, but basically that's what you're hearing.
09:51Well, it's a mother calling her pups to a kill.
09:58Oh my God.
10:03Good shot.
10:13Good shot.
10:30Yes, four out of four.
10:34And if this is a girl I'm going to take a lotto ticket.
10:39It's actually amazing that three girls, I mean normally here we find that
10:44it's like you're lucky if you get a girl. It's normally we're oversaturated with boys.
10:50Yeah, that's crazy.
10:56It's a girl.
10:58It's a girl.
11:02What are the odds of that doc? Yes. Lotto, Lotto here I come.
11:10That's mental.
11:15Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's crazy.
11:19Even though mom's dead, she'll still contribute to the meta population properly.
11:31All right, so we've just arrived back at the farm after a very windy and dodgy flight.
11:40The wind, guys, today is next level. It's crazy. It must be gusting 30 knots. Anyway, I'm back safe.
11:50And yeah, the guys have arrived. The cheetah have arrived safely.
11:56They're just waiting for me. I'm rushing there now to offload them.
12:01And yeah, it's crazy. I'm just going to say it's crazy.
12:06It's unbelievable that out of a litter of four, there are four females in that litter.
12:14It's like literally unheard of. So very, very glad that Sean was able to dart all four successfully.
12:24I was a bit worried at a point. But yeah, I did a magnificent job getting all four of them.
12:33And they are extremely important in terms of genetics for the cheetah meta population.
12:42The females are definitely worth a lot more because of the ability, obviously, to breed, to yield young as opposed
12:55to the males.
12:56So a lot of reserves are desperately after female cheetah.
13:01Whereas if you've got a surplus of males, they are not as interested.
13:06So it couldn't have worked out better. But yeah, notwithstanding the fact that obviously these poor little cubs have lost
13:15their mother.
13:16And apparently what an amazing mother she was and an amazing attraction for the for the for dinner king.
13:25Apparently she was the most amazing attraction and viewing animal so people could get close and get amazing sightings.
13:33So it's a really sad occurrence that the line has has killed her. But yeah, that is the way of
13:42the wild, unfortunately.
14:19So, let's keep seeing the original story.
14:19So now we're going to see her.
14:20And we're going to see her on top of the sea.
14:20OK, what you want?
14:21I'm hungry.
14:30We just want to do well, we're ready.
14:31We're ready and I'll catch you.
14:31Nah, we're ready and I'm hungry.
15:13All right, so the four little critters are safely offloaded, went better than I expected.
15:22The one female definitely seems to be the more bold of the group.
15:30And then there's the one that seems to be the more skittish one of the group.
15:35So we've got both extremes and the other two fit in somewhere in the middle.
15:41But looking okay, still a bit wonky from the sedation.
15:46We're just going to let them chill, calm down, get used to their new surroundings.
15:53I mean, they've had a lot on the go over the past few days.
15:56I mean, these poor little cubs.
16:00I mean, it's really, really sad.
16:06My heart goes out to them.
16:09But they are at least in safe hands, in good hands.
16:14And we'll obviously do our utmost to make sure that we raise them to the strongest versions of themselves so
16:25that they stand the best chance of being released back into the wild.
16:30That's the idea.
16:30Guys, yeah, we will be obviously needing support in raising these guys.
16:38It takes a village.
16:40We can't do it on our own.
16:41So, yeah, I think if you would like to support this mission and see these six cheetah go back into
16:52the wild, then give it some thought and do go and have a look at where you can help.
16:58So, yeah, hope you enjoyed the video.
17:02It's a different kind of video.
17:03So, but yeah, it's certainly the kind of work you're going to probably be seeing more of because that is
17:13the direction we are taking.
17:15As many of you will know, we are not rescuing animals to keep lifelong in captivity.
17:21Our mission is to really get animals, if they need it, in.
17:25If they need help, get animals in and then release them back into the wild.
17:30That's the mission.
17:31All that's left for me to say.
17:33Is, thank you for watching once again, and please join me next time.
17:39Yeah, I suppose for more adventures here on Lion Whisperer TV.
