Catholic Mass Today I Daily Holy Mass I Friday October 23 2026 I English Holy Mass
Transcript
00:15In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, the Lord be with you.
00:21Welcome to Mass, wherever you might be, and it's a great opportunity we have to take a moment out of
00:30our lives to simply get to the important things of thanking God for the incredible gifts we have.
00:39And so we take a moment now to stand in God's presence and whilst thanking Him, also humbly but confidently
00:47ask His pardon.
00:55Lord, sometimes we can take your very precious gift of life for granted. Lord, have mercy.
01:04And Lord, as we know, sometimes we can take this beautiful world that you've given us for granted. Christ, have
01:13mercy.
01:15And Lord, in our selfishness and in our hurry, we can take one another for granted. Lord, have mercy.
01:25May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to life everlasting.
01:34Let us pray.
01:37Almighty and ever-living God, grant that we may always conform our will to Yours, and serve Your majesty in
01:47sincerity of heart.
01:49And we ask this through Christ our Lord.
01:57My first reading today is from the letter that St. Paul wrote to the people of Ephesus, where he had
02:05already been preaching.
02:08And so he says, I, a prisoner of the Lord, implore you to lead a life worthy of your vocation.
02:19Bear with one another charitably in complete selflessness, gentleness, and patience.
02:30Do all you can to preserve the unity of the Spirit by the peace that binds you together.
02:39There is one body, one Spirit, just as you were all called into the one and the same hope when
02:48you were called.
02:51There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God, who is Father of all, over all, through all,
03:07and within all.
03:14The word of the Lord, and our response to the psalm today is,
03:22Lord, this is the people that longs to see Your face.
03:28Lord, this is the people that longs to see Your face.
03:34The Lord's is the earth in its fullness, the world and all its people.
03:40It is He who set it on the seas.
03:42On the waters He made it firm.
03:46Lord, this is the people that longs to see Your face.
03:51Who shall climb the mountain of the Lord?
03:54Who shall stand in His holy place?
03:57The one with clean hands and pure heart,
04:00who desires not worthless things.
04:04Lord, this is the people that longs to see Your face.
04:10He shall receive blessings from the Lord and reward from the God who saves him.
04:15Such are the ones who seek Him,
04:18seek the face of the God of Jehovah.
04:23Lord, this is the people that longs to see Your face.
04:29And we welcome the gospel.
04:32Alleluia, alleluia.
04:34Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth.
04:38You have revealed to little ones the mystery of the kingdom.
04:45Alleluia.
04:53The Lord be with you.
04:55Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke.
05:01Jesus said to the crowds,
05:03When you see a cloud looming up in the west,
05:08you say at once that the rain is coming.
05:12And so it does.
05:15And when the wind is from the south,
05:17you say it will be hot.
05:18And it is.
05:21You hypocrites.
05:23You know how to interpret the face of the earth and the sky.
05:27How is it you do not know how to interpret these times?
05:34Why not judge for yourself what is right?
05:38For example,
05:39when you go to court with your opponent,
05:42try to settle with him on the way.
05:45Or,
05:46he may drag you before the judge,
05:49and the judge hands you over to the bailiff,
05:51and the bailiff have you thrown into prison.
05:55I tell you,
05:56you'll not get out until you've paid every last penny.
06:01The Gospel of the Lord.
06:07Blessed be your Lord,
06:08God of all creation,
06:10for your goodness we have received the bread we offer you,
06:12fruit of the earth,
06:13and work of human hands.
06:15It will become for us
06:16the bread of life.
06:20By the mystery of this water and wine,
06:22may we come to share in the divinity of Christ,
06:25who humbled himself to share
06:27in our humanity.
06:36Blessed be your Lord,
06:37God of all creation,
06:38for your goodness we have received the wine,
06:39we offer you fruit of the vine,
06:41and work of human hands.
06:42It will become our spiritual drink.
06:46Lord God,
06:47we ask you to receive us in the pleasure of the sacrifice,
06:49we offer you with humble and contrite hearts.
06:52Lord,
06:53wash away my iniquity,
06:54cleanse me from my sin.
07:06Pray now,
07:07my brothers and sisters,
07:08that my sacrifice and yours
07:09may be acceptable to God,
07:11the Almighty Father.
07:18Grant us, Lord,
07:19we pray,
07:20a sincere respect for your gifts,
07:22so that,
07:23through the purifying action of your grace,
07:26we may be cleansed
07:29by the very mysteries we serve.
07:32And we ask this through Christ our Lord.
07:35The Lord be with you.
07:38Lift up your hearts.
07:40Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
07:43It is truly right and just,
07:45our duty and our salvation,
07:47always and every way,
07:48to give you thanks,
07:49Lord,
07:49Holy Father,
07:50almighty and eternal God,
07:52through your beloved Son,
07:53Jesus Christ,
07:54your Word,
07:55through whom you made all things,
07:57whom you sent as our Saviour,
07:58and our Redeemer,
08:00incarnate by the Holy Spirit,
08:02and born of the Virgin Mary,
08:04fulfilling your will,
08:05and gaining for your holy people.
08:07It's just that his hand,
08:09as he endured his passion,
08:11so as to break the bonds of death,
08:13and manifest the resurrection.
08:15And so,
08:17if the angels and saints
08:18would declare your glory,
08:19as with one voice we acclaim,
08:22Holy,
08:23Holy,
08:24Holy,
08:25Lord God of hosts,
08:26heaven and earth are full of your glory.
08:29Hosanna in the highest.
08:34You are indeed holy,
08:36O Lord,
08:36the fount of all holiness.
08:38Make holy,
08:38therefore,
08:39these gifts,
08:39we pray,
08:40by sending down your Spirit upon them,
08:42like the dewfall,
08:43so that they may become for us,
08:45the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
08:48At the time he was betrayed,
08:50and entered willingly into his passion,
08:52he took bread,
08:54and giving thanks,
08:55he broke it,
08:55and gave it to his disciples,
08:57saying,
08:57Take this,
08:58all of you,
08:59and eat of it,
09:00but this is my body,
09:02which will be given up for you.
09:25In a similar way,
09:27when supper was in it,
09:28he took the chalice,
09:29and once more giving thanks,
09:30he gave it to his disciples,
09:32saying,
09:32Take this,
09:33all of you,
09:33and drink from it,
09:34for this is the chalice of my blood,
09:37the blood of the new and eternal covenant,
09:39which will be poured out for you and for many,
09:42for the forgiveness of sins.
09:45Do this in memory of me.
10:05The mystery of faith,
10:08when we eat this bread and drink this bread and drink this cup,
10:10we proclaim your death,
10:12O Lord,
10:12until you come again.
10:15Therefore,
10:15as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection,
10:18we offer you,
10:19Lord,
10:20the bread of life,
10:21and the chalice of salvation,
10:23giving thanks,
10:23that you've held us worthy to be in your presence and to minister to you.
10:28Humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of Christ,
10:32we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.
10:49Remember,
10:50also our brothers and sisters who've fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection,
10:55and all who've died in your mercy.
10:57Welcome them into the light of your face.
11:02Have mercy on us all,
11:03we pray,
11:04that with the blessed Virgin Mary,
11:06Mother of God,
11:07Saint Joseph,
11:08her spouse,
11:08the blessed apostles,
11:09and all the saints,
11:10who have pleased you throughout the ages,
11:13we may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life,
11:16and may praise and glorify you through your Son,
11:19Jesus Christ.
11:22Through him and with him and in him,
11:24O God Almighty Father,
11:26in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
11:28all glory and honour is yours,
11:30forever and ever.
11:34We might pray together a beautiful prayer
11:37that Jesus taught us to pray.
11:40Our Father,
11:41who art in heaven,
11:43hallowed be thy name.
11:45Thy kingdom come,
11:46thy will be done on earth,
11:48as it is in heaven.
11:49Give us this day our daily bread,
11:52and forgive us our trespasses,
11:55as we forgive those who trespass against us.
11:58And lead us not into temptation,
12:01but deliver us from evil.
12:02deliver us Lord,
12:04we pray from every evil,
12:05graciously grant peace in our day,
12:08and by the help of your mercy,
12:10and be always free from sin,
12:12and safe from all distress,
12:15as we await the blessed hope,
12:17and the coming of our Saviour,
12:19Jesus Christ.
12:22Lord Jesus Christ,
12:24who said to your apostles,
12:25peace I leave you,
12:26my peace I give you,
12:28look not on our sins,
12:30but on the faith of your church,
12:33and graciously grant her peace and unity
12:35in accordance with your will,
12:37who live and reign forever and ever.
12:39The peace of the Lord be with you always.
12:43Now let us offer each other a sign of peace.
12:48Peace now, wherever you might be.
12:51Peace.

13:29behold him who takes away the sins of the world,
13:31blessed to those called to the supper of the Lamb.
13:35Lord,
13:36I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof,
13:39but only say the word,
13:41and my soul shall be healed.
13:43My Jesus,
13:45I believe that you are present
13:46in the most blessed sacrament.
13:48I love you above all things,
13:50and I desire to receive you into my soul.
13:53Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally,
13:56commonly, spiritually, into my heart,
13:59I embrace you as if you were already there,
14:01and unite myself wholly to you.
14:04Never permit me to be separated from you.
14:07Amen.
14:09Let us pray.
14:12Grant, O Lord,
14:14we pray that benefiting from participation in heavenly things,
14:21we might be helped by what you give in this present age,
14:25and prepared for the gifts that are eternal.
14:30And we ask this through Christ our Lord.
14:34The Lord be with you.
14:36May almighty God bless you,
14:39Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.
