04:41yesterday uh before that baseball game I thought it was a great move by him even though he left the

04:52of things where it's like well if they go to the LCS they're just gonna get boat raced by Tampa

04:56I don't care about getting boat raced by Tampa Bay I'll go ahead and go to the ALCS it's the

05:00if you're gonna lose anywhere and now it's a 2-1 series it just it just feels it feels different
05:07it you don't want to use too much language because they got two more games while they're in Cleveland
05:16so I'm not going to start saying like the d word and making a lot of plans even though I'm

06:33in August I looked it up uh ESPN basically does their power ranking every single week throughout the
06:39season the Guardians started out 20th to start the year and you know there were ups and downs in fact
06:45May late May they were all the way up to number six but then they were all the way back
06:50down to 20
06:51on August 20th and so it's it's fun to kind of see that and play it out how um you

06:59I mean we we we all watched we all were talking about them this year they were they were at

07:05was anybody like really calling us going this is a special team this team has the making of the
07:11team that well I told you the only reason I could give them an argument on not on like to

07:15or anything like that was there was the the trades I'm like well they they must think they're better
07:20or they they must think that the vision's worse than any of us think and the second thing is and

07:24didn't think that this was any good reason was 2025 and I'm going 2025 is not a reason to have

07:30and it's historical for a reason it doesn't happen all the time so I can't just sit here and keep
07:35using 2025 as a reason to keep the faith in 2026 they kept the faith within themselves and now you're
07:41two wins away from going back to the World Series I mean this is this is one hell of a

07:47organization I think honestly from top down the front office the manager who is certainly more involved
07:54than other managers in Major League Baseball and obviously the roster playing to the level that it's
07:58played in and getting hot at the time it's got hot I think there's credit that's deserved all the way
08:02around I understand that there's not anything that's really been accomplished yet but yesterday
08:06was such a big win and it was one of the greatest home run moments I think that we've seen
08:11since the
08:11station's been on the air I mean Rajay Davis is Rajay Davis Giambi told me but I mean come on

08:18is postseason baseball and a guy like Petey Halpin hitting a home run like that and to put you up
08:24in that
08:24game and you end up winning that game it's one of the more remarkable things that I think we've
08:29ever seen in Cleveland sports I'm not trying to be hyperbolic here I'm being serious I mean we we've
08:34had you know Lane Thomas we've had David Thomas was a big one Oscar Gonzalez yeah it's what it's what
08:42really does separate MLB postseason from every everywhere else is that there weren't a lot of
08:47people clamoring to see Petey Halpin and the only reason he's playing is because on hell it's been
08:54so bad bad right if on hell it was just okay then Petey Halpin wouldn't be out there he wouldn't
08:58Martinez let us your home runs this year right and that it wasn't like he's a bopper but why would
09:04you pull him out and it's because he's been bad and Petey went in for his defense and has provided
09:09I mean it wasn't just that homer he's had other hits and in the playoffs this these last two weeks
09:14well it's also and you hear his post game like you could tell it's I don't know how he he's

09:22to take the game seriously okay I just don't think maybe pressure affects him the way it affects other
09:26people well I wonder some guys are just kind of built where they don't really feel pressure in the
09:31sport they play the way other guys do does that make sense yeah no yes okay he just doesn't get
09:37stressed out by no there there are no there's some people that realize the gift that being a
09:42professional athlete can be for your life he seems to be one of those people it is a it is

09:48player's naive confidence uh that helps him because I think in these moments and I think we're seeing
09:55it with on hell Martinez unfortunately but I think and I think I think unfortunately we see we've seen
10:01it with Tanner Bybee we're in these moments just the pressure the heat of of being there being worth it
10:08there is a there is a monetary factor to it what the future is uh depending on you know what

10:14things like that like I don't think that terrible postseason performances really hurt really great
10:19ball players the way that other people do when it comes to their salaries but I know that it can

10:23if you're a really big player in a really big moment like guys stretch their contract they stretch
10:27their careers out because people know that they can step up in in tight situations and go out and get

10:32for them but I think for those guys like there's something there they're young and they're just
10:37maybe not ready for that moment and Petey Hoppin I think would be ready for any moment I mean good
10:42god it sounds like you trust the guy with the nuclear football because I don't think that he sweats
10:46and it was just an amazing amazing thing for everybody to see and yeah I think that on hell Martinez
10:51is a big part of the future but I was dead wrong yesterday right before that game where I'm like
10:55yeah I'd like to see on hell my no no no no no no no no but Petey Hoppin did

11:26out there the other big thing too is you can put Stephen Kwan back in left field
11:30to go make that catch over you know in foul territory to end the game it's not odd because
11:36if on hell Martinez is playing he's in left field and and Stephen's in center that's good point and
11:42those just the net sum of having Stephen back and left and Petey in center vice versus what the other
11:49option you're more comfortable yeah absolutely no absolutely and uh and I didn't get that much
11:55blowback after the home run I didn't I I it was I don't think it led the segment it wasn't

12:00full-throated stand on the table type of thing that I've said before about something but no wrong is

12:21the background looking like an eight-year-old kid jumping up and down uh it was one of the best
12:26moments that you've seen on television it was dramatic it was awesome it puts you up three two
12:31and now I think you know a lot of people you go from this like all right we'll see what

12:35the LCS because there's a lot of people like guys I watched six the Rays games this year it's when

12:41play the Guardians okay I'm not sitting there watch I'm watching the Guardians I I marked down the games
12:46that I watched the Guardians we're like at 115 games or whatever it was like like I'm watching
12:52Cleveland I'm not watching the other teams I'm not sitting there like all the Yankees around I got
12:57to see them like no I I'll put some sports on in the background but it's nothing like I'm going

13:01pay attention to like I'm paying attention to the Guardians so there was so many people and this was
13:06the whole crux of the Friday thing with the other show was like oh my gosh the Rays are a
13:12juggernaut
13:12you're just going to go get hammered against the Rays I'm like well who cares I I'll go get hammered
13:17by the Rays of the ALCS because it's the ALCS I don't we'll give them hell and so now I
13:23have all
13:23these folks who've been telling me how much better that the Rays have been this year and they're in
13:27the tougher division and all that other stuff I'm going well we're up 2-1 in the series so it
13:31feels
13:31that much better and I went from down 0-2 to going well this is going to be an ugly
13:37ugly day the day
13:38after they lose this series because you know we're going to get those calls and they're going
13:42to be ugly and they're going to be repetitive and we're just going to have to take them because
13:46people got to get it off their chest and now it's like hey I really think they can do this

13:50think I really think they can get to the World Series and I think a lot I think a lot

13:55have gone through that roller coaster of emotions where they are at they're on a 50,000 foot cliff
13:59right now at 2-1 and I think you feel that way I think the callers feel that way Owen

14:04how do you not get swept up in that yesterday I mean almost in a weird way it almost has

14:08kind of easy to win two games against him I know there were anxious moments there in the eighth
14:14but I mean when Cade Smith is just mowing him down in the ninth and you just all you need

14:20home run you win Daniel Espino wasn't that the top of the order when he comes in yeah well and

14:25yeah and Gavin had 70 pitches at that moment yeah believe me me and the guy I was standing by
14:32yesterday we had a deep discussion about that I want to defend that and I even wrote down the notes
14:37so I could okay I'm gonna tell you I I didn't see now there is a little bit of ignorance

14:44in the argument because I didn't see what Carl Willis and Stephen Vogt claim they saw and what other
