00:06Hello, everyone, and welcome on our Seagre TV set for, again, new interviews with our new guest.
00:12This is Antonio Ilizzetto. Hello, Antonio.
00:15Dear Antonio, as you have been the Chair of 3D Committee C1, Power System Development and Economics, for four years,
00:22and you are re-elected.
00:24Congratulations to this longevity.
00:26Could you please tell us how was this past four years for you?
00:31Yes, four years as a Chair, but actually I am active, contributing to Seagre since, I would say, 14 years.
00:37And in this period, I've been covering all the duties and the positions in the Study Committee, working groups, in
00:47the sessions in Paris and in symposium.
00:49And then it was good to become Chair, so I could continue my contributing activity, but also giving strategic direction.
01:00And it's been nice to feel at the center of this energy transition, amidst a lot of threading changes.
01:10And I really like this committee, the scope of this committee is really what stimulates me most.
01:21Okay, great.
01:21And could you explain to us in detail what is precisely the work of the Study Committee C1 on a
01:28daily basis, and what is its same goal?
01:30Well, C1 is dealing with system aspects.
01:36We take a holistic view of all the parts of technology, of markets, of society, and we try to have
01:45a systemic approach to all these aspects.
01:49We somehow are pioneering the next steps of what it will be the next, the future energy system.
02:00We have been introducing in the last years new topics and new processes.
02:06For example, hydrogen, we've been the first committee to have a working group on this.
02:10And not only in terms of working groups, but also in terms of internal knowledge sharing, with a series of
02:18workshops, and also utilizing external experiences, like consultant, other organizations like ENSOE.
02:27It's been very challenging, but also very rewarding.
02:31We try to be abreast of all the new things, and also in terms of modernization of processes.
02:39And I found, when I started, somehow auto-referential the Cigre, we have to go more outside to get what
02:49are the trends, and to bring outside the huge body of knowledge that we develop here.
02:56So, not only for the technical people, but also influencing possibly the decision-makers.
03:01Okay. And you have also different positions in some of the most prestigious organizations, as a co-chair working group
03:08Greed and System View in ETSIPSnet,
03:11convener of working group Future Energy System at ETSOE, and chair of C1 at Cigre.
03:18How was the impact of all these wars in your career, especially in Cigre, and vice versa?
03:23I think this is a good opportunity for cross-fertilization, to bring the view, which is a bit different on
03:30the same topics, from these different heads, which I have,
03:34and exploit the best state-of-the-art from one table to the others.
03:42The different nuances, the different interests brought by the different associations, for example, Cigre is a technical professional association,
03:51and SOE is an association for transmission system operators only.
03:55These different views are very complementary, and I think it is beneficial to both having these different roles.
04:05I would also say that the specificity of Cigre is that all the work is voluntary, and taking the best
04:14of all the dedication on a voluntary basis is a real challenge, but also an interesting reward.
04:21Thank you very much for being with us, Antonio. Thank you.
