00:06Hi everyone and welcome on our SegreTV set for a new interview with our guest Geir Klaassen.
00:12Hello Geir.
00:13Hello.
00:13Thanks for being with us.
00:15As you have been the chair of study committee B1, insulated cables for two years,
00:21could you please tell us how was these past two years?
00:24They have been very busy. I had a very good teacher in Marco Marelli, the past chair,
00:31but it's quite different to be running it, you know, by yourself.
00:36I have a very good team that helps me, so I think we've done quite good, very hectic.
00:44Cool. And could you explain us, tell us in detail what is the work of study committee B1 on a
00:51daily basis
00:51and what is its same goal?
00:53Well, the goal is to make, you know, share the knowledge on cable systems and helping with the energy transition
01:04and making good technical brochures for the audience to be able to use and so on.
01:13Yeah.
01:14Okay. And you know, the energy transition is a real challenge in the world we live in.
01:19What was the role of study committee B1 regarding this big challenge?
01:25Well, on cables, we have been working on the energy transition for more than 10 years.
01:33So it has been sort of part of the B1 community.
01:38And cables are in a position to enable all this renewable energy to get into the market.
01:47So trying to teach people how to use the cables more often and also try to get new users of
01:55cables up to speed as soon as possible.
01:58Okay. And we will talk about a little about your career.
02:02You have a position as a senior engineer, high voltage testing at Nexen for several years.
02:08How was the impact on your career, of your position as a chair?
02:14This is the love for you.
02:16Yeah. It's, I mean, it takes a lot of time, obviously.
02:19I'm lucky that my employer are able to give me this space.
02:24Yeah.
02:25And Seagree and my career has been sort of chicken and egg because being in that position, working in the
02:33laboratory, I was able to attend Seagree sessions.
02:36And then I got to build a large, you know, friends here in Seagree.
02:42So it has gone basically together like a hand in a glove, I think.
02:50Thank you very much for being with us this morning.
02:53Thanks.
02:53Okay. Thank you.
02:54And thank you all for being with us on Seagree TV.
02:57I'll see you soon for new interviews.
02:59So stay connected.
03:06Bye.
