00:01DAP's Limlip Eng has criticised the prisons department for barring former Prime Minister Najib Razak from revealing the terms of
00:09his house arrest under a conditional royal pardon.
00:13Najib's lawyer, Shafi Abdullah, reportedly said Najib had received the house arrest order and its conditions, but was told not
00:20to disclose them.
00:21The Kepong MP called the move ridiculous, arguing that the conditions were not official secrets and secrecy would only feel
00:30further speculation.
00:31Lim questioned whether Najib could receive visitors, use his phone or social media, and whether he would be monitored electronically
00:39or by CCTV.
00:41He stressed that Najib remained a prisoner and said the public deserved to know how house arrest would work, as
00:48the case could set a reference for future cases.
00:51Lim urged the prison's department to disclose the conditions while withholding sensitive security details, saying house arrest should not be
01:00treated as a luxury holiday.
01:03Najib was sentenced to 12 years jail and fined RM210 million over money laundering involving RM42 million in SRC funds.
01:13His sentence was later halved and the fine cut to RM50 million before a September 18 conditional pardon allowed house
01:22arrest until August 23, 2028.
