00:00Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim has revoked the Tan Sri title conferred on former Felda Chairman Isa Samad, who
00:07is currently serving a jail sentence for corruption.
00:11In a statement, the Prime Minister's Department said Sultan Ibrahim had consented to the withdrawal of Isa's Panglima Setia Makota
00:18Award, which carries the Tan Sri title, effective June 8.
00:22The Department said the decision was made because Isa is currently serving a prison sentence at Sungai Buloh Prison following
00:31his conviction on corruption charges.
00:34It added that the revocation was in line with the statutes governing federal honors and Sultan Ibrahim's 2024 warning that
00:42awards would be withdrawn from recipients convicted of crimes.
00:45Isa, a former Negeri Sembilan Menteri Basar, was convicted by the High Court in 2021 on nine corruption charges involving
00:54RM3.09 million and sentenced to six years jail and a RM15.5 million fine.
01:02Although the Court of Appeal later overturned the conviction, the federal court reinstated both the conviction and sentence in February,
01:10while a hearing on Isa's application to review the decision is scheduled for June 26th.
