00:06Hello everyone and welcome on Seagret TV. We are with our new guest. This is Christina. Hello Christina.
00:12Hi. Thank you for being with us. You are Grid Technologies Head of Sustainability at Siemens Energy.
00:19Could you tell us a bit more about your area of responsibilities within the company?
00:24Yes, sure. And thanks for having me. So together with my team, we are responsible to improve the environmental footprint
00:33of our products portfolio.
00:36And just maybe for everyone who doesn't know, Grid Technologies is one business area within Siemens Energy, really responsible for
00:45the transport of energy and the storage.
00:47And sustainability is at the core of our business strategy. We emphasize specifically on decarbonizing across the value chain.
01:00So that really means tackling all the problems from the supply chain over to our own operations and then really
01:09also paying attention to the efficiency of our products in the use phase.
01:14So all of that are topics that are very dear to our heart.
01:18And I want to also say that we do start really engaging in circular business models, something that is also
01:27very important to our customers.
01:29Okay. Like you said, sustainability is the core of your strategy. Could you highlight the most important project in the
01:37area in 2024?
01:40Yeah, sure. So to start off with, for every business, it's important to understand where emissions come from, greenhouse gas
01:49emissions come from.
01:50We did our analysis. We really understand where we are at and what the decarbonization levers are for our business.
01:59And so strategically, we have set programs in place to address both the supply chain decarbonization, the decarbonization, the own
02:09operations.
02:10So our factory landscape, which is 36 factories globally, and then also the operation phase of our products.
02:18So meaning efficiency and so on.
02:22In all of that, I would say that the most important strategy that any business needs to follow today is
02:30really supply chain decarbonization.
02:32We really can impact the way we purchase materials, the way we collaborate with our suppliers to become greener.
02:40And it's really huge investments and very time intensive.
02:44So we need to pay attention early on in order to have materials in the future that are greener.
02:51And so I would say this is one of the main strategic focus at the moment next for sure to
02:58our own footprint.
03:00Okay. And can you provide some information about the advancements or accomplishments in the sustainability area at Siemens Energy?
03:09Yeah. So let's take the supply chain decarbonization.
03:13For us, from the beginning, it was clear that we need to engage with our stakeholders.
03:18So what we have done, we have defined our main commodities.
03:22It's four. It's steel, copper, aloo casting and oil.
03:26And we said we need to collaborate closely with the key strategic suppliers with those commodities.
03:33We have approached them. We have built partnerships.
03:37We have signed MOUs on we have a common target.
03:42We want to decarbonize by 2030, at least by 30%.
03:46We need you on board and we need you to have a roadmap and an outlook for that.
03:51And I think it's going pretty well.
03:55I think our industry, even though we are energy transition driven,
04:01is just now starting to understand how important the supply chain is in that transition.
04:05And I think that's the biggest success for me personally and my team, that we could bring this message across.
04:13Thank you very much, Christina.
04:15Thank you as well.
