00:00He clenched his teeth and did not cry out.
00:03The driver turned the chariot around,
00:06and the king of Israel remained standing in the chariot,
00:09leaning against the rail, facing the battle all day long.
00:14For if the king fell, the army would flee.
00:18Blood ran down his tunic and pooled on the floor of the chariot.
00:24At sunset, he died.
00:27They took the body to Samaria and buried it.
00:34And they washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria at daybreak,
00:39and the dark water ran down the stone steps to the edge of the reservoir.
00:44And the dogs came, gaunt, wary, with low-slung snouts,
00:49and they licked, just as the Lord had spoken through Elijah.
01:04Ahaziah, son of Ahab, ascended the throne.
01:08And with him came the same idols, the same altars, the same crooked paths.
01:16As if the three years of drought and the fire of Carmel had been buried along with his father.
01:22Ahaziah had been drinking since noon.
01:25By the wall, two of the queen's eunuchs waited with the pitcher.
01:28They had served Ahab's household for many years,
01:31and in all that time, no one had ever asked their names.
01:37Look at this.
01:38All these years in my mother's house, and you still cannot pour a cup of wine?
01:58My lord, the lattice is old.
02:03Everything in this house is old.
02:06My father's walls, my father's wars, my father's prophets.
02:17His body broke down from within.
02:20He was bedridden, feverish, at death's door.
02:26And at the moment when any man would have sought heaven, he sought Ekrom.
02:37Go and consult Baal-Zibod, the god of Ekron.
02:40Ask him whether I will recover from this.
02:45The messengers set out.
02:47But before they reached Ekron, a man was standing in the middle of the road.
02:52The hard time was sitting in front of the road.
