00:00Joined here with Buckland manager Matt Cusack after a VARS win over Hamworthy.
00:05Matt, your first thoughts on that one?
00:06Well, first of all, delighted to win the game and get into the next round. That's what cup
00:09football is all about. We've had our injuries recently and the squad has been stretched,
00:16but each to a man today, I thought they were superb and difficult to pick out a man in the
00:20match. I thought it was the team, the squad on the day. I thought across the two halves,
00:24sorry, the two halves, I thought we were good value for the victory, but it was a tight game.
00:30It was a tight game, so credit to the opposition, but I thought we were good value for it on
00:35the day.
00:36Obviously one moment of real brilliance from Josiah there to seal the game, just a word on that.
00:41Yes, it's an outstanding goal which is going to run the platforms, isn't it, across the next couple
00:46of days. Josiah has waited patiently on the bench for his moment, he's come on and he's made his
00:52moment matter more importantly, and that's what we ask about substitutes. They've got to be at the
00:56ready to go and impact the game. Josiah understands the bigger picture, we've got lots of games coming
01:01up where he'll be needed to start, but today we felt that Toby Pullman would cause some problems
01:06with his movement, and I think that was the right call. Toby did cause some problems with his movement
01:11all day, but Josiah waited patiently, he came on, and it's a goal worthy of securing any game.
01:17It'd be a goal worthy of winning any game, but we've already won the left at that point,
01:20and it just gave us that cushion at a vital time in the game to make sure that we ensured
01:26our passage
01:26to the next round. Then at the other end, I don't know, rub it in anyway, but first clean shoot
01:31of
01:31the season, a long time coming. 16 games it's taken, so we thought we had one midweek. Obviously we got
01:37to 12 points, I think we got to like the 92nd minute, 2-0 left, and then we conceded one.
01:41So you're
01:41thinking, sorry, we were 4-0 left at that point and then conceded one. But you know, if someone had
01:48said to
01:48us before the game midweek, you're going to concede a goal, but you're going to win 4-1,
01:51we'd have taken it. So yeah, it just backs up, you know, a good week for us. Last Saturday here
01:57against this guard, I didn't think we were good value for anything, but we managed to get a point
02:01on the day. And then obviously midweek, we made the extra man count at 12 points and took six
02:08valuable points off them. And then we backed it up again today, making sure that we're in the half of
02:13the next round. And that's what it's all about. Away from today's game, in the past, when a player's
02:17left, you've said, if they don't want to be part of the journey, then you'll move on. But I'm not
02:21sure
02:21a player's ever left in such good form as Sammy State. So how big a blow is that? Yeah, disappointing
02:26one. Disappointed that Sammy chose to leave. You know, he felt that he needed to move on. And I guess
02:32time will tell whether it's a right move for him. I don't want to, you know, take away from today
02:37about that sort of distraction. He's made his decision and he's gone. So, you know, we thank
02:42Sammy for what he's given us here. But ultimately, no player is bigger than the club. And that's the
02:47same for any player. And now we've got an opportunity for others to take their chance.
02:51But equally, we've had seven days in for players as well to try and strengthen the squad. And
02:55you know, we had Frankie Jones join us today. He's returned to the club. And we've got seven days in
03:00for other players as well that are going to be coming in to reinforce the squad over the next couple
03:04of
03:04weeks, which is really going to give us a boost. So, you know, we're looking forward to the very
03:09next game and that's all we can do. And players will always come and go. That's the nature of
03:13football. I was a bit disappointed that, you know, it happened on the day of a game, but I won't
03:17say
03:18too much more on that. But it is what it is. And, you know, we've just got to get on
03:21with it.
03:22Then lastly, back to this competition, obviously enjoyed a good run in it last year. So I'm sure you're
03:26hoping to go as far as you can again. Yeah. Yeah. Last year, I think we had succumbed to
03:31penalties, didn't we, against Barclays. And we had a bare 11 that day as well.
03:34I think it was that time of year where COVID was still flying around and yeah, we were struggling
03:39to get a squad injuries and just so we had a bare 11, but we managed to get the game
03:43to penalties
03:44and we lost, you know, in a shootout. But luckily we've got that goalkeeper in goal for us now.
03:48And Mike Sow and I thought we were superb again today. I'm so delighted for him with a clean sheet
03:51because it's been a long time coming. I just said to the lads, you know, try not to wait another
03:5516 games
03:56because it's certainly aging us on the sidelines.
03:59Well, yeah.
04:00Well, yeah.
04:00Well, yeah.
04:00Well, yeah.
04:00Well, yeah.
04:00Well, yeah.
04:00Well, yeah.
